Are You A Go Getter Or A Go Quitter?

This is going to be an interesting thread. How many of you guys consider yourselves ambitious, determined, and highly motivated as far as becoming successful? How far would you or are you willing to go to reach you goals in life? I know a lot will answer and say that they are go-getters, but there are only a few that truly fit within the category.

I know I'm a go-getter because the past few months have been hectic for me up til now. Just to keep it brief, I taught myself how to market online, build a website, and overcome the failure that most people experience when they get involed with online business opportunites. I didn't have a mentor, nor anyone to call. All I had were my prayers, my computer, and my ambition which drove me towards the success I'm having online.

Now, you briefly explain what makes you a go-getter, if you consider yourself to be one.

I consider myself a go getter. I like to think outside of the box, I like to tackle large problems that most people would shrug and give up on. I may get discouraged from time to time, but never permanently. I set high goals, and then go after them.

That's great if you can teach yourself and move forward. But, in business world, virtually, you should teach yourself. Nobody will teach you how to make money.

It takes a lot to be a true "go-getter." And you are right - most don't have what it takes.

First, one must have a high level of energy. He or she must be "on" all day, everyday. Constantly work your angle, be persistent, show enthusiasm, and truly care about what you are doing for others.

Secondly, you must be very focused. And you have to want your goal badly - very badly. You need a primal drive towards your achievement that keeps you going when common sense would tell you to stop.

Finally, you must have a purpose that defines you. A true "go-getter" has a deep purpose and reason for being and acting the way he or she does. Without this, you are nothing, just a hollow person with no purpose and no real path through life.

here's a little story that might put things into perspective...

Let me borrow your imagination for a minute. Imagine you are lost in the Sahara Desert wandering aimlessly just hoping you'll come across an oasis. After what has seemed like an eternity you come across and old fashion water spout. You know... the kind you would find on most farms in the Midwest a century ago. They have a long handle that you have to pump in order to get the water to start flowing.

After you touch it to confirm that it is not a mirage, you begin to pump... after 5 pumps no water comes out. You give it another 5 then 10, still no water. You have been walking for so long you can barely stand up and don't know how much longer you can keep it up. But you keep pumping 10, 20, 30 more times and still no water. The question now is when do you stop pumping?

The next pump could be the one that starts the water flowing. If you stop and take a break, all the effort you have already put in will be wasted. But you know for sure if you don't get water soon, you won't survive. This well offers you the only possibility of survival. So keep pumping. If you are going to go down, don't let it happen with out a fight.

from all my experiences throughout life, the one thing i learned is that to be a go-getter. rather than to wait for someone else to do it, why not you yourself?

Another point is that a Go-Getter is a Risk-Taker. Not a crazy, look before you leap risk-taker. They're all usually broke and disillusioned. But certainly someone who looks at all the options and is willing to take a chance on the less obvious option.

Playing it safe in all areas of your life is generally incompatible with a high level of success.

Unless of course you got yourself a nice safe job doing a bit of boring computer coding at Microsoft back in the Eighties!

If being a go-getter means having a clear vision of what I want both for my present and future and doing everything in my power to get it (slowly but surely), then I definitely am! Not always easy to stay 100% on track, but that is the challenge, and fun...Best in '09
