Anybody else ever get tired of the buzzwords on this forum?

    Just to vent...

I can only assume that I'm not alone when I say that I vomit in my mouth a little every time I read the new, cool, trendy buzzwords on this forum.

How many times can we re-hash the "creating wealth" catchphrase? Oh hey, by the way, you don't "create" wealth. You take it from someone else.

When you "invest in real estate" (I swear reading this forum makes me NEVER want to buy real estate just because I'm so tired of hearing about it) - you're trying to get people to move into your commercial/residential space, henceforth TAKING (not creating) the wealth from every other landlord in town who's competing for the same people.

When you put money into stocks (which it seems that most people on this board think is ridiculous) - you're TAKING the wealth away from the other saps out there reading the Wall Street Journal every day.

And speaking of...anyone remember reading about the Great Depression? Go ahead, stop trading/buying/selling stocks. Watch the (probably short-lived) disaster that happens when nobody can afford the rent at your RK-induced overdose on real estate that you bought because it was the best way to "create wealth."

And what's up with the spam? It seems that even some of the most frequent posters have spam in their signatures.

So what do I have to say to summarize all this?

    Diversify.

Yes, that age-old phrase that it seems nobody in this generation wants to listen to. The phrase that Merril Lynch, Charles Schwab, and JP Morgan built their company empires around.

Own a business, own the property, own the building. Own 3 more businesses. Buy some real estate as rental property. Buy some stocks. Buy some bonds. Hell, even dabble in some venture capital.

But by all means, listen to yourself. You have to look at yourself in the mirror every day.

Finally someone on this board who is not trying to prove they are smarter/richer/trying to sell me something or visit their website! I agree with you, from this forum, most people think that by building one business they are going to get a few million, wrong. When people ask me what I do and where I invest I tell them I do evreyting and invsest in anything with a good ROI.

As for the people asking if there are any millionaires on this site. No there aren't, they wouldn't be here if they were.

    Amen, brother.

I have a ton of stocks, bonds, even a regular ol' bank savings account, 401(k), I own my home, I work for someone else in corporate America (hey it pays the bills while I find my entrepreneurial calling), and I'm opening an online lingerie store.

That's diversity. And I don't plan on creating wealth...I plan on taking wealth from my competitors.

You said it well...show me a good ROI and a good risk/reward about something I like and I know...and I'm in.

I hear you, but at some point I just decided to stop letting it bother me.

That isn't necessarily true. There's more than a few on some of the other Internet Business forums that I browse, such as WW. Generally speaking though, I've never seen anyone who is well off admit to it on a message forum and why should they? They have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone.

I stopped reading when I read that. You lose any and all credibility (in my opinion) if you had any to begin with, when you say something like that.

Some people believe that, but if you ask anyone who has a lot of true wealth they will say the exact opposite.

What you might be referring to is not wealth being taken away from someone, but that person actually losing their wealth because they did not properly take care of it to secure it. Even if they did secure it, that wouldn't of stopped anyone else from getting wealthy, they would of achieved it no matter what.

If you're looking for some kind of egalitarian mecca, go somewhere else. People are here because they either ARE making money and are looking for companionship/more money, or because they WANT to make money, so naturally there is going to be plenty of solicitation.

I also seriously disagree with you on your 'multiple investments' statement. While I also believe that you should never limit yourself to one stream of income, I also believe that one the ball gets rolling, it's hard to stop it. I'm presented with opportunities every day simply because I've put so much time into establishing my business. Claiming that no one business can make you a millionaire is a generality that just doesn't fly. Bill Gates worked every day (except 3, literally) in his first 5 years of starting Microsoft, and hes the richest man in the world. Maybe the exception, I don't know, but there are several types of millionaires in my opinion.

It sounds to me like you're of a George Washington Plunkett mentality (I saw my opportunities and I took em), but I'm more of a Bill Gates mentality - put everything you have into tweaking your model and supplementing your existing business model; get that snowball rolling and watch it get bigger. I may get bored with what I'm doing now, but if I stop doing this, it won't be because I wasn't making money at it.

And as far as millionaires on this site...there is another thread which has established that we have at least a FEW technical millionaires, and I'm just guessing but I think 'versas' from the forum is loaded (she has condos in Manhattan and Miami, if she's telling the truth). I'm on this site not because I'm a 'wannabe' but because I enjoy coming here. I enjoy reading other posts. I enjoy posting. I enjoy trying to SELL something occasionally. It's fun and I do it because I like to do it, not because my professional life lacks.

Make sure you have your info right before you make general statements like that. It pisses me off and makes you look like a jack ass.

Hmmm...not quite sure if you're criticizing me or Barebones...I'm obviously not going to defend his opinion (I'm sure he can try to do that on his own), but I wonder if I should defend mine?

    Ah...hell...I'll do it anyway.

Egalitarian? I don't recall preaching any economic equality. And also note that I said "spam", not "solicitation." Big difference. Check those words in the same dictionary/thesaurus that you found "egalitarian" in.

Bill Gates was also involved in a major antitrust scandal. I have little respect for him. No matter how much money you can make, or how well you develop and market your product, the law is the law.

Hey, if you can make money driving down a single-lane road, by all means, I give you all the credit in the world. But, just as in all the threads that I was referencing, I was stating my opinion.

Agreed about the 'millionaires' thing. And if versas is 'telling the truth' - awesome, great for her. But every post I've ever read of hers really makes her out to be a roaring c**t with an out-of-control ego that just screams "Hi - I'm an attractive rich girl that's better than you" (sorry I don't know the language requirements of this board). I'm not saying she is one, she could be a real sweetheart, but the posts I've read certainly don't qualifty - so I'd never utilize her services.

And make sure you check your grammar/spelling before you post ("jack ass" is actually one word, i.e. "jackass"). It really makes you look like a mor on.

I put my money where it has the most growth potential. I am currently a college stuent with very little money, but the money that I do have is used to start my own company (bio-diesel startup). But I was just commenting on all the E-blingers on this site, along with all of the internet whores (visit my site buy from me!).

A millionaire to me is someone who has $1 000 000 plus in liquidity, anyone can get a million dollar home (or at least could before the sub prime mortgage melt down), the people who do have homes worth mill plus are mortgaged up to the teeth or have parents who paid for a large portion of it.

I came to this site because I do not know much about internet advertising, one good thing is I found out how NOT to do it from here.

    Thanks, rant over

Ha! I must totally agree with barebones on his comment.
I am "sometimes" the kinda of pesron who uses this forum in the wrong way "i put the click my website link!". I realize that I dont make money this way. I make money but going out there and making relationships with people in my own community and actually getting work that way. Thats how you make millions is networking. I know thats a buzz word but its how people get things done in this world!

So yes. onto the topic that was discussed ealier in the thread. Stocks are CRUCIAL. Put all your money in real estate and watch your liquity suffer. Diversifcation is good but not OVER diversifaction. I can go on for days so I will stop here lol.

First of all Kendra - I wasn't responding to your post, I was responding to what BAREBONES said.

Second, if you had noticed that I was quoting BAREBONES...you would see that I was using 'egalitarian' correctly; I was responding to the 'anybody posing on an online forum isn't a millionaire' bs - if you're 'still learning' keep it to yourself. Some of us aren't millionaires but we are doing well as an entrepreneur, and making a collective gesture about the income level of the entire forum community being the same as yours...egalitarian.

Third, don't bash Bill Gates, you flaming communist. There is NOTHING wrong with conquering the world when you do it on your own merit. As much as I hate the way Microsoft operates - holy shit do I respect Gates.

Lastly, no-one asked to have some pretentious grammar nazi point it out every time someone spells 'jackass' 'jack ass.'

OK cool...makes much more sense now.

If I were a Communist, would I bother with entrepreneurial discussions? And as far as using the word "flaming" - the word does carry a homosexual connotation, which could easily be derived as a hateful comment, correct? Please read the following quote from the Code Of Conduct: "As a result, we ask that discussions involving politics and nationalities or anything of a sexual nature be reserved for other message boards that are better venues for these topics."

Not that I care, I'm not gay. But what if I were? And what if 20 other people on this forum are gay?

As an entrepreneur, I would hope that you refrain from using this type of language in the future and in all your future endeavors, because while I'm sure you would get a TON of great PR for being a gay-basher, I really doubt it would be good for business.

That's not an insult to you, rather some advice for your own well-being.

And as far as Bill Gates goes, it has nothing to do with Communism. It has nothing to do with making money on your own merits. The bottom line is - in the United States, the law is the law. Right or wrong, we have to obey it. Mr. Gates and his company clearly did not. Martha Stewart got busted for insider trading a few years back. She did that on her own merits, but it was illegal and she went to jail.

Again with the sensitive topics - what if someone on this board has a relative that was a victim of the Holocaust? Do you think it's even appropriate to discuss Nazis in such a loose reference?

We should all be a bit more cautious about the words we use, especially in written form on the internet where anyone can save what you say and use it against you in the future.

What happens if you run for public office someday and someone on this forum took offense to your "flaming" comment. You can argue all you want that it wasn't meant to be a gay reference, but it is widely accepted as a derogatory term that is directed toward gay people. And what happens if this gay person ends up being a powerful business/political leader?

Your career and your reputation are over, my friend.

Again, I'd obviously never do anything like this, because I'm not gay, or Jewish, or anything but a typical white American male. But someone else might. Be careful what you say.
