Yeah, just joined this site few days ago. Love photography, currently traveling around Europe and heading to South America for 5 months. Ive taken with me Canon 30D, 50mm f/1.8 MkII, Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, Canon 70-200 L f/2.8. In the process of making a stop motion film.

Photography is a great excuse to spend some time with yourself and observe life from different perspectives. Anyone new to photography should check out fredmiranda.com, awesome site with great reviews and forum.

You can pick up a Canon 400D body for about 600 to 700 USD now. Theyre great for beginners, a little small after a while. If I were you though I would recommend picking up a second hand Canon 30D for probably around 800, not sure what theyre going for now on ebay. But they are absolute BARGAIN because the new model came out a few months ago. Check out dpreview.com for list of DSLR's.

But be warned.... once you get hooked they become money buckets. Read all reviews about lens and cameras before you buy. The good thing is its worth spending that extra on quality glass (lenses) because they hold there resale value quite well if looked after (especially L lenses). And once you have tried a good copy L lens, yuo will NEVER go BACK!!

I couldnt recommend highly enough the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L. Best lens ive used!! Next on my list is the retired Canon 28-70mm L f/2.8. Check out Macro photography too on fredmiranda.com. Its amazing seeing the world from that perspective!!

Anyway, enjoy but be warned.. its addictive!! but well worth it!

currently using a 400D(what they call the XTi) here, along with 18-55mm, 35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.8II and sigma 500DG. Is BG-E3 counted? haha.
