    Any ideas for a logo?

    Hi all...

I need to put a logo together for one of my sites... I can prob put it together myself, but would greatly appreciate your input
    It's for a furniture/interior business that I co-own.

I want to put a logo on the left of the header... then I'll probably put a 100X100
thumbnail on the left of the introductory paragraph...

    Here's the link http://www.africablue-interiors.co.za

Post a contest at Digital Point forums

They have some great logo designers, and you can hold a ontest for $10-20.

Actually, some professional logo designers frown upon these contests. at most, what you get are design students' designs.

I can totally see your logo design as an all blue icon. sort of like a window with an artistic African symbol or image (maybe a seashell) inside. Plus your name. anyways that was just a sugestion. You can try a lot of other online custom logo companies for a really great deal too. So look around.

And whats wrong with that!? when I was at uni studying multimedia we had some guys ripping out designs that you wouldn't get from a professional design firm.

The different between a student and a pro is the student will do a better job for less in most cases as due to the pride in their work and getting a decent portfolio..

I'd bet a student can give a pro a run for their money any day!

    Dylan,

Give me a few hours to kick around some ideas in my head and I will try to come up with something for you. Heck if I get bored maybe I will even draw it out.

    Ok,

I really haven't had the time to think or draw anything for you, but I will keep this in mind throughout the day.

After doing a little research on furniture/furnishing logos here is what I got.

You are going to be looking to draw something that shows that your product is practical, beautiful, and sophisticated. The general color scheme of this type of logo is black, blue, brown, and other earth tones that reflect the nature that the furniture was made from. If you are selling traditional furnishings you will probably want to go with a traditional serif font. But if you are selling more contemporary furniture you might want to find something a little more edgy and new age. I hope this is some help to you.

Well, I found some time to put a concept together for you based off of the qualities I listed for a furniture/furnishings logo.

This is the concept that came to my mind.

A simple house with a roof and a blue body underneath it. The blue body represents the interior of the home. I chose a light blue to show comfort and beauty in your company. The light brown used for the house represents the soil of Africa and the source for your furniture. I stayed with a classic serif font to show that your company has sophistication and class. I put a small chimney with smoke plumes to signify warmth so that it will entice your clients with warm welcoming feeling. So now to unvail the logo.

Worth1000.com is a great place. You tell them what you want to do and then a contest is formed using up and coming graphic designers, etc... Then you pick the one you like.

You can put your own prize on the site as well. A lot of my friends use them and they love it. I think the most they have ever paid in prize money is $100 and for that they usually get 35 or so submissions from the designers.

Its worth a look if you need a logo.

    Hi Dylan!

I worked with a company called thenetmencorp.com a while ago and their work is very good.

Maybe they can help you...and I´m sure they will. All you need to do is tell them what you need.

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers!
    Paula.

    dylan,

choose a good color or a design that speaks a lot about you, or your business, something really personal and choose a good color. i am not really a graphic designer but this is just my suggestion :-D.
