any good website to learn accounting???

Hi, I am currently looking for a website that can teach me accounting from ground up. I want to also learn more about the U.S tax laws also.

I am currently in college. This college really is poor. I was told to ask the teacher of how many students that graduate from this college and pass the CPA exam. So I asked my teacher and she ignored me and also dodged the question saying oh many people take the CPA.

I now think that the college I am at spending a year there now that they don't teach most of the time.

So I am looking for websites that can assist me on learning accounting. I do have a book on basics of accounting and managerial accounting. The problem they don't explain good.

Also I still am unclear on the overall accounting area. Like I still don't understand why something is this way.

I was told by a friend that passed the CPA. He told me to not try and memorize the math formulas and rules just try to understand why it's that way. He said if you do it that way then the CPA exam is a piece of cake.

What my professors been telling us to memorize the rules and math formals.

So I know the math formulas but I don't have a good understating why it's that way.

So I was wondering if anyone knows a good website that will help fill these areas in.

I know of accounting.com and accounting coach.com just want to know if there is a website that covers the whole accounting field.

    Thanks for your time.

The only one that I know of like this is Free Online Accounting Course | AccountingCoach.com

I would have to say that I agree with your friend that took the CPA exam though. I think that understanding concepts is just as critical as memorizing the formulas.

This website Computerized Uniform CPA Exam: Sample Tests seems to have some practice exams that you may want to take a look at.

ya, my friend already passed the exam. I am in my second year in college majoring in accounting.

The college I go to have no professors that teach business classes that took the cpa exam.

I have been asking around with different business professors about if they knew anyone that was from this college that passed the cpa exam and I haven't found anyone to get me a straight answer. Most tell me some do take the exam and have a business right now but they wont tell me that those people passed the exam.

So I just talked to my friend and he told me my college is a crappy college and wanted me to start searching the internet for good board forums or good websites that can help assist me with learning accounting.

Go to Amazon.com and buy the books that have the best ratings. Some people post information on the net solely for content and don't really care about its accuracy.

Agree with you that there are many useful books with cognitive information about the subject you are going to learn.
