An aspiring net entrepreneur needs some help

Hey, I just joined this website and its great! Im 17 years old and for the longest time now i've wanted to set up a business online and now im going to take some action towards that. The problem is I don't want to spend much money to get this business going nor do i want to loan money. Dropshipping seems like a good idea for me but im scared that ill loose alot of my money off of it and that i may be too young to get it going. Does anyone have any suggestions for this, or more importantly other suggestions on what to basis my business on considering I don't have much experience in many fields, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for listening

PS: Im in school so this would be a part-time business

actually you could approach any local company and ask them if you can sell their goods online (with a markup of course)
obviously you don't want to compete with them if they already have an online business, but once you explain that your site will make theirs look cheaper and 2 outlets are better than one............

Cool

nah, age is not a problem You don't have to have a credit card to do business with people lol. Although it will be nice. You could co-sign a card with your parents if you could convince them. If you can proof that you have a steady income, you could get one yourself. FOr the credibility, if you are starting an online business, it shouldn't be a problem. Unless u type lik tis. n no 1 can understand u.
lol.

selling online is a pretty big operation. i had an online store ealry this year and it took abotu 3 months of 40 hour work weeks to get it open. it's really hard for minors, (i was 16 when i launched it) and you have to find all of the loopholes in the laws and banks to get everything setup. i would recommend doing an affiliate website which sells another companies product/service and then getting a commission for that. it can be a very good passive income if you set it up right and a lot of my friends make good money from being affiliates. pm me if you have questions or anything.

Thumbs up Similiar Situation

I am also looking into to starting some sort of online busines. I again have questions about whether age is an issue or not ( I am 15 and a Sophmore in High School). I have been researching different things regarding the start up etc. of an online business. Do you feel that it is necessary that my customers am aware that I am 15? I have been creating a "business plan" ...somewhat. Not in to great detail, I guess you could call it more of a brainstorm. I was leaning more towards ebay. I was thinking that it would be wise to sell things that I personally own to start so I can accumulate some positive feedback. Then after attaining some sort of credibility among others, start an online store, and/or start to use dropshipping. Does this look like a reasonable plan to start up a steady income for myself? Tweak it around a bit if you would like...I am open to any ideas. Thank You!

There are people your age that make $3000+ with their online businesses. Surely age is not an issue. You don't need to sell your own items. I suggest you start with affiliate programs. This will measure your ability to:

1. Create a website that (make it seo friendly, user friendly, loaded with good content).
2. Promote a website (get enough targeted traffic to make your effort profitable).

If you can do those successfully than you can venture into dropshipping and maybe carrying your own products and selling online.

Before you do anything, find a niche that you enjoy and that is under serviced.

Age is never an issue to a prospect customer, so don't ever bother to bring it up. Think about this, they are there for your offering, not your age, just make sure you look professional.
