    Aluminum Can Business

Hi everyone, I am very new here and I've had an idea for awhile: to mass collect aluminum cans in order to generate some decent income for further investments/businesses. I was at first planning to ask individual homeowners who drink lots of beer/soda out of cans to keep the cans in containers I would provide, and instead I would maybe buy them a 6-pack once in a while. But then I thought it would be too much running around when it'd come to pick up. Now I'm thinking of targeting local businesses (Walmart, Kmart, Technical College, a University, paper plants, etc) I am discouraged against local businesses though because 1) there's usually someone there who already takes the cans home and 2) I am scared of how the people would percieve me if I came there asking for cans like a homeless person.
I am not sure how much exactly I could generate from this but if I can get good volume, I am certain this endeavor would be worth the trouble.

If anyone out there has experience in these things, please, reach out to me-as I am young and inexperienced. Any advice or thought or criticism would be greatly appreciated!!

    P.S.
    This is a wonderful website

You're already aware of the stigma that might come with asking for aluminum cans, so you're prepared for that. I personally think that this is something that is certainly worth a try, but I'm not sure you're going to get a lot of money from the efforts you put in. I would encourage you to go to the funding and investment forum to learn how others have raised capital for their businesses.

Thanks for your reply Lynda! I know there wouldn't be an overflow of cash from this, but this was just something I was thinking of doing until I'm sure of what it is I want to pursue more seriously. There are a number of things I'd be willing to try, but the lack of capital is keeping me from putting much thought to anything. I will definitely look at the forum you suggested, thanks!
