    Advice on future business/website.

I have always had an idea to have an online pet store, selling products for dogs, cats birds etc.

The thing is, if I was to sell these products, do you think it would be best to use dropshipping? If I bought bulk, I would need a large warehouse presumably to store the amount of products needed.

    Any thought are welcome.

I'll have a stab at just general thoughts on it.

I personally would go the drop shipping option at least for the first period of the company, say set a 6 months target, see how it goes. If you are gaining a good amount of sales then consider going to a warehouse/store front to go along with the website.

I have no real Idea on the topic (if you didn't notice)

    But the benefits would be,

    - No rent for the warehouse and associated costs such as transport, staff insurance etc.
    - It would be a lot easier to do it through a drop shipping option (I think)

So its minimising the overheads essentially reducing costs for a risky period of the venture, see how it goes then look at expansion methods or bringing the company to its brick and mortar stage.

    Hope it helped :S

I've never drop-shipped before, but its always seems like a sham to me.

This thought has always seemed odd to me. The second largest Dive Rite (one of the largest name in SCUBA equipment) dealer ran his shop out of his garage for years before he bought a warehouse for storage. For the cost of 'renting' storage space. Home depo or lowes has large sheds cheap, if you don't already have a garage.
