    Advice needed

I have a product but don't know the best way to go about manufacturing it. I have a prototype in hand. I could really use some advice for anyone that has knowledge with the cheapest and best way to get a product manufactured...
    Thanks in advance,
    David

Also if you guys don't have any advice but want to help get my business of the ground you could donate a young entrepreneur some money to help with manufacturing costs. NO pressure at all just thought i would ask since many people have better financial capabilities than a broke college student... Again thanks for everybody's help!!! Thanks again everyone,

My advice would be to focus on learning as much as you can about business, marketing and branding. Try getting a job as a student. Working at a job will teach you how real businesses work, it help you branch out on your own later.

Not being able to fund the manufacturing is a sign that you are not yet ready to run that type of business. Focus on getting as much real world experience and knowledge as possible, when the right time comes you will be able to bootstrap this business.

Well, my company assists individuals in obtaining business funding with/without personal guarantees in amounts up to $1M. Sounds good? Yeah, but as Obi stated, there's no point in having funds if you don't know what to do with it! I also suggest you mold your idea by adding knowledge and experience so that your business plan, along with your prototype, will attract all the investment capital you'd need!

I do have a business plan for my product with projected costs in all sectors of the business, as well as the percentage of my target market with baseline of reaching 1/3 (<worst case scenario) With all taken into account I would still be profitable as I have several clients lined up and interested in the product. It however is an illegal practice to take money for a product that has not yet manufactured. I have worked in the business area and have been well educated at Purdue University and their business courses. The matter is not the experience in business and financial sector its the fact that I can't achieve paying for schooling, as well as fund a business venture at this moment. As you can tell in the link I posted above I only need $1500 to start manufacturing.. a small amount relative to overall cost which I have additionally put in through working at school and summer jobs.
    Thanks,
    David

Uhh... Well, what kind of product is it? Textile and basic plastic/glass manufacturing should be easy enough to outsource to China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, etc. More complicated machinery may require more specific factories...

I only have question. Is your product something invented or innovative? Your answer to this question will determine how successful you can be. Inventors die broke and innovators die successful. I would not recommend building your business around cheap labor and foreign manufacturing because as countries realize how to get out of debt, foreign manufacturing will die!!!

A couple of thoughts. You can take out the $1500 on credit cards, some have the 18 months, 0% APR deals. Or, you can pick up a few extra hours working for a couple of months and save up for it.

Or, last month's entrepreneur magazine. Check out quirky where you can post your idea for $10 instead of 1500. If not, the same article mentions telebrands or alibaba.com , not that I have used any of the above, but just checked out alibaba and definitely found some things of interest.

You'll figure out something. best of luck!

    1. Go to a bank with your idea. If it's solid and they like they prototype, it'd probably be easy to get a couple thousand dollars.

    2. Rack up that credit card debt. What's 20% interest when you're end up launching a very successful company?

    3. Drop out of school next quarter and use that money to fund your business. Where would the business world be if nobody took risks and went all in with their ideas?
Do something you're passionate about. It makes a world of difference to your success.

Electronics are usually harder to manufacture seeing as you need to find specialists who know exactly what they're doing.
