My college is virtually free, because of this i have found college to be a great time to build my business, take risks, and most importantly take advantage of a time in my life with low expenses and very few "real" responsibilities. Although I could probably earn an extra buck if I dropped out and built my businesses full time. I think having a college degree, if anything, is just something I feel like I am supposed to obtain whether I eventually need it or not.

I think the only way you can devalue education is by having it - one of those catch 22s.

Recently, I ended up dropping out of college to pursue my dream of starting my own event management and marketing company. I always look back and wonder if I made the right choice in choosing to start a business over graduating? The problem I had while in school was that I lacked money and direction. I could never figure out what major matched my personality and work ethic. However, in college, I did learn valuable skills and developed relationships with very intelligent people that helped shape the way my business is run today. College was one of those times when I could experiment with learning anything and everything; and I fully took advantage of it.

I spent 3 years in college majoring in Architecture and unofficially minoring in Mathmatics, Finance, Accounting and Business. I would just borrow books from my friends and read them hoping if I ever switched majors I could challenge the lower level classes. I really think that helped me, not only with starting my company, but really being able to absorb knowledge through a book. So in a lot of ways, school has taught me nothing, and everything. So when I answer my own question, it's allows worth it. No matter if I stayed in school or started my business. Anything that will help you get to where you want to be is worth it.

I agree......a degree is a degree......and, except for the NAME/prestige of the college or university....and maybe a little more job preference.....I don't see the difference between getting a degree at a big name university or at a small community college. We have a rather big community college right down the road from my house, and, the truth is, theyv'e sucked up alot of professors, who taught at big name universities....who are at the end of their careers. So, I don't really think the quality of education is all that much different.......I guess it all depends......

See, that's why you workout 5hours a day for 10 years in a row and then you get a $140,000 basketball scholarship and go through school for FREE Trust me it works

And you could hypothetically retire once you have $1mil. by investing in stocks and then just live off of interest. But why stop? Staying in business will keep you young and sharp.

If I could turn back time, I would like to start my own business during my college years. Thanks for sharing about the book!
