A job that can help me and make me money

I'm 15, I turn 16 soon and I'm starting to get into business. I'm going to be selling my new book online in print/ebook form. Ontop of that I will run a site that promotes the book and possibly other ecommerce projects if I "hook-up" with some partners.

There's a new Hannafords opening and I'm thinking about getting a job there. I'll make decent money and I'll be with some friends. My question is, are there any jobs that I can experience/learn about business/sales/marketing? My initial thought was to become a sales person at a store like Sears or something so I could learn sales. What do you think?

It is going to be hard for you to find a job in sales or marketing with no experience (Although how do you gain experience without getting a job? Its a paradox...lol)

Anyway, your best bet (if you are looking for more experience rather than money) is to find a marketing business in your area and talk to them about an internship...let them know that you will do it for minimum wage and will help them in any way possible.

Should work. If not, go to that company (I dont know what Hannafords is) and work your way up until you get into sales.

If you are willing to get paid only by commission without a fixed pay check, you will be hired.

I learnt sales by working for free. Get paid only when I sold the products.

Hannafords is a grocery chain so I'm not sure if there are any actual sales positions. What kind of job could I take with commission? I know a car salesman is like this but am I too young to work for a dealership?

    Thanks!

Maybe think outside of the box and go for what Skyjoe76 was talking about, tell a sales company that you will work for free, and only accept commissions.

Actually sales is easy to get into.
Salesmen are the easiest sales, so by this just sell the person giving you the interveiw.

Sales is is high demand, you could get in easy.

I agreed. As long as your EQ is good, you shouldn't have problem mixing around with different people of different background.

Any job you take at your age will be good experience for the future. Whether it is working at a pizza shop, retail store, or something else, you will gain insight into whatever industry it is.

I actually don't. Would they be in the yellow pages?

    Thanks.

Sales is not difficult to break into, you'll have no trouble if you're eager to learn. Wear a suit or at least a shirt and tie, they'll hire you. I've worked in hardware sales at Sears before - you'll learn a lot if sales is unfamiliar territory.

I would suggest going for Automobile sales if you can... Sales is a smart skill to learn and will definitely come in handy in the future if you're looking to own your own business.

I got a job when I was 17 at a telesales spot. It was a "we'll hire anybody, because nobody stays past training" type of places... At any rate, I made pretty good money to be in high school, and I learned a lot about sales..and even more about dealing with people (people treat you worse over the phone than they ever would face to face). Try that.
