    Search Engine Submission

How do I go about submitting my site to search engines. I know I can do it manually but I only know of a few search engines. Should I pay to have it sent it many (hundreds) like what this site does: http://www.addme.com/submission.htm

Also, lets say I submit my site to Yahoo. Then I make a change to my site (like a month later), do I have to resubmit my site to Yahoo (because of the change)?

NO! Do not use a service such as that. You don't need to submit your site to search engines at all. All you need is to get an indexed site (the higher the Page Rank the better) to link to you. That way you will get crawled, when the Google bot, MSN bot, Yahoo bot spider the site that is linking to you.

Submitting your site automatically can get you banned from the search engines.

Just having a live link in this forum will get you indexed. Updating your site regularly will make the SE's come back more often, and having lots of content will make sure lots of your pages will get indexed. As far as ranking well for competitive terms, you'll need lots of links from high PR sites that are related to your niche.

Some people say that manually submitting to G, Y AND M will trigger a penalty, but regardless you don't need to anyway. As far as the smaller engines are concerned, their really not worth worrying about and if their any good the'll find your site anyway.

I know of a site that will submit to 160 search engines with only one submission but it takes the normal amount of time for them to get indexed which is why i dont see a point of submission as you can use simple seo skills to get indexed within a few hours or days instead of weeks!

just put your link in your signature and your site will get crawled and also ask other webmasters to have a text link to you. The spiders cant read images unless they have alt tags so for a higher PR make it a text link

You want to submit your site somewhere, submit it to directories. Then submit your UNIQUE articles to article directories. If you ask for some examples of each I'm going to come through my connection and slap you.

@YouDidWhat, do you have any examples? im jk w/u

For what search engine will my site be indexed?

Also, lets say I buy a hosting plan (which allows for up to 3 sites to be hosted on it), can all 3 sites be search engine optimized? I heard that Google only allows for 1/account.

You can find free non reciprical (the best kind) directory lists at http://forums.digitalpoint.com by doing a search, though I just tried for a couple of mins and couldn't find one. You can also find article directory lists though ezinearticles, articlecity and goarticles dominate the market so if you can't be bothered those 3 will do.
