    Review a landing page, please!

I don't want to put this in the website review because it's not a complete website, and I'd also like to get the views of marketers specifically, not simply designers.

I am launching an e-book June 1 on how to design your own website. I use WordPress exclusively to design sites for clients, and have recently come to the realization that so many people could do it themselves if they just had a complete set of instructions in one place (the WP Codex perhaps a little too complicated for most). Most entrepreneurs, small businesses and non-profits have no idea of the amazing sites they can create for such a little investment using WordPress. Having said that, I don't want this market this as a "WordPress" E-book this first go around, but simply a "how to build your website" book...because those who don't know HOW to build their site... don't know to look at WordPress in the first place.

Here is the landing page: My Name Is Angie .

You can leave comments directly at the bottom of the page, and even subscribe to receive a notice when the book is available June 1. I'd really appreciate any feedback you might have as to the content of the page itself, or really, any thoughts you might have.

    Thanks so much!

    Regards,

    Angie Meeker

Well, first off, I think its too wordy. No one will spend 5 minutes to read a landing page. Landing pages have to be short and their message should be succinct. More graphics, less words. The idea is good though. This a landing page, I designed and coded. In my opinion, they should look more like this, strictly because the content is right there, but not overwhelming. If you would like a new landing page designed, or for your current one to be revised, let me know.

    Best of Luck!

I think it looks great, except for what was mentioned above...too wordy. Take what you have written and say the same thing in half as many words. Sounds tricky but it is possible.

Along with that, when you have large blocks of text, add a little subheader that tells what the paragraph is about and then shrink the font size of the paragraph by a couple pixels so that people can skim easily, see what each paragraph is about and be able to quickly decide if the contents matter to them.

The more your page is skimmable, the more useful it will be for the user.
