Smile Retail website looking for advice on getting more traffic!

    Hi,

I have a website up for about close to 2 years now. The only traffic we are getting is from magazine editorials and bloggers. I am trying to find and learn a way to bring more unique users to our site and in turn make some $$ by selling the product.

Where should i start? All input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thx!

What kind of product are you selling, and what kind of marketing budget do you have.

There are more then a few things to consider right now. In most cases I would ask, is Traffic your real problem?

    Hi Kameron,

I am in the handbag business. We design and sell our own designs in small boutiques and department stores here in the US. We would like to drive some traffic to our site and create more retail. What do you suggest? Our budget is quite low since we are a small company.

A good way would be to upload pics on your Twitter and Facebook of your best products.

In all honesty, when it comes to retail, a great place to get in front of buyers would be eBay.

Im not sure a direct response campaign would be overly beneficial for you. There are things to consider like your conversion rates ect.

Depending on your site and how its laid out, Potentially doing some small scale media buys on targeted sites in your niche to get infront of your demographic would be handy, while at the same time running a re-targeting campaign to all of the visitors who have visited your site, serving them targeted ads, depending on what they were viewing.

    and of course theres SEO.

Obviously Social Media is a must these days. Putting together a strategy for maximizing your social media exposure as well would be a huge bonus. Without having seen your site or products it would vary depending on being product focused or brand focused.

Thank you for the advice veitnamguide!

Is web 2.0 the same as forums?

Also, if i have a brand xyz. Should i use adwords and spend the budget on xyz brand?

    Does that make sense?

    Use Ebay!

Create an online store on ebay, with a link to your main website. You will increase your traffic and selling power like you would not believe.

You will find most people will buy directly from ebay, but will check out your actual site to see if you are genuine.

My uncle does this selling baby equipment... and his business is booming!

Go to Google and search keywords that you feel your potential customers would enter. Can you find your site? If not, it's like having an unlisted phone number. I'd start there.

First you need to identify your target customer very clearly. Who are the people who are going to buy your handbags? How old are they? What are they like? How much money do they make? Where do they live? Some of these might seem unimportant, but I assure you they aren't.

The more you know about your customer the easier it is to get your name and product in front of them. Once you understand who they really are, you will be able to determine where they hang out online, where they get their news, what they are reading, etc. Then you can advertise in whatever medium that requires. Maybe that means Facebook ads. Maybe that means Google Adwords. Maybe that means sending them direct mail pieces. Maybe that means giving away a free product that they would be interested in and exchanging that free product for more information about them like their name and email and mailing address. Then you can use that information to get more of your marketing and advertising in front of them.

Do you mean you do not have traffic coming from search engines? You should have good keywords to optimize and promote.
