I'm sure you guys get all sorts of questions about this, but I have some rather specific ones. If you'd rather reply in pm's to keep your trade secrets a bit more secret then I'm ok with that!
I'm starting up an e-commerce business, and I've approached a wholesaler that I've dealt with over the past few years to drop ship for me. They don't currently offer drop shipping but are willing to work out an arrangement with me to fulfill my e-commerce needs.
I've never had a drop shipping arrangement, and I'm not really sure how it all works, but these are the questions & concerns my wholesaler posed to me and I need to address these with sound solutions! Being entirely new to e-commerce & drop shipping I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask for some advice.
1. How are the orders placed?
2. Who invoices for the product?
3. Who collects and how do we get paid?
4. Where do freight charges come in to play?
The stumbling block with #1 is that my wholesaler's website is not set up to take orders, so I would be relying on either email or telephone. This isn't terribly bad as their telephone service has excellent hours & impeccable service, but it's not as simple as clicking a few things to ship out an order.
Any thoughts, tips, advice, things to avoid, or things that have worked for you would be incredibly appreciated! I really look forward to hearing from some of you soon!
