John Chow dot Com December Income Report
From Johnchow.com:

The start of a new month (and in this case, a new year) means it’s time once again for the blog income report. These income reports came about because of a case study I started way back in September 2006. I wanted to see if money can be made by blogging and used this blog as the test case. Before September, John Chow dot Com was simply a personal blog for me to ramble and didn’t make any money.

The blog started 2007 with $3,440.66 in monthly income. Eleven months later, the figure had mushroomed to $27,240.83. December is traditionally a lower traffic and income month for web publishers. This is because nothing much happens during the last week of the year because everyone is out shopping and partying. How did this effect the December blog income? Not as bad as I thought it would.

Total Blog Income for December 2007: $25,040.36

Click here to see the December income breakdown, forms of monetization, and further 'ramblings'.

That is just amazing, and as everyone here should understand that you can use johns website to increase your own website's traffic.

Haha, I was just from John Chow before I was here.

It is truly remarkable how he did that. I hope to be where he's at ..someday..

It is just too bad that the more money he makes, the more useless his posts are becoming.

No I'm talking about posting comments to his articles, if you post enough of them you will see your name on the right side of the page under 1. Recent comments or 2. Top commentators

I know - they have truly become 'lack luster'.

I agree, I used to read John's blog about twice a day and now I check it about once a week, his posts are boring and aren't helpful to others trying to blog for cash. He just promotes his ego, affiliate links, and dinner pictures.

^Exactly, Cameron.

I suggest the man find some guest writers to continue the past momentum that he with providing truly valuable information on blogging, monetization methodologies/strategies, new trends, etc.

Either he does that, or I predict his inevitable demise.

Funniest part is, his blog sucks. He writes dreadfully boring, dry, repetitive content. His blog is filled with intrusive ads (even his RSS feed is, too). The only thing interesting about this guy is how much money he makes.

All of the budding newbies online search for his coined "make money online" keyword and instantly become one of his groupies dazzled by his mountains of cash making him even richer thus increasing the confusion as to why they can't do the same thing.

It's a one in a million phenomenon. Just like Pro Blogger. Everyone's mistake is they mimic what the big guys do. That's a poor strategy.

Another blog I read posted this a while back and it really sheds some light on a better train of thought. Give it a once over.

I agree. His guest posts are the best posts on his blog. Maybe one in 10 of his actually have some decent info in them.

It's quite ironic that the best posts on his blog come from guest bloggers.

The more I think about, John Chow's 'success' has become like The Emperor's New Clothes.

Sure, he makes plenty of money from the blog, but the substance behind this alleged 'success' is nonexistent.

It's been a few weeks, but I read about a website of someone making John Chow money, but he's apparently a younger guy, just out of college, still parties. Supposed to actually provide really good content. The name escapes me right now. I'll see if I can't find it again.
