Hi Entrepreneurs,
There's a lot of buzz at the moment about article writing, for those who aren't in the know this is basically where you write small articles (typically 400-500 words long) on a long tail keyword (a word which has lots of searches compared to the amount of sites using this keyword).
To being with, we'll talk about keywords - to see how many sites use a keyword type your keyword into Google in the following format "<insert keyword>" so for example if you wanted to find out how many people use the keyword keyword you'd type in "keyword" - see the "About 665,000,000 results" right underneth the search box? Now enter "Big flat computer" and you'll only see "About 2,470 results" so it would be much more recommended you go after these long tail keywords when not only writing articles, but pages on your website (put them in your page title, keyword, description, heading and within the body).
Another useful tool for finding out competition is Googles keyword tool, check this out at https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeti...AS#search.none
A way to find good keywords is to identify "Niches" these are sub-angles within popular topics so instead of creating a site on "Dogs" you'd create one on "Silk dog blankets" for example!
Carve out your niche then decide on your keywords, now write your articles with the exact keyword phrase appearing in the article at a density of 1%-2% (so for a 400 word article that would be 4 - 8 times) the most important part is that the article reads well, of course you should also choose an enticing title top 5 lists seem to work well, but your keyword must again appear exact within the title. Your articles should aim to help people, but not reveal, entice, excite and lead the reader to purchase what your going to sell to them.
Now submit your articles to Ezinearticles.com you'll also find you need to create a description of the article, for this you can simply use the first few lines of your article.
Now onto the resource box! This is the most important part, here your allowed to leave links back to your site/opt-in list/product so you should recommend the site/opt-in list/product and leave your link. Something like "If you found those tips on <insert keyword here> why not find out more by visiting <insert site/opt-in list/affiliate product link>" words well!
Tip! You can also include one text link within the body, this massively increases your CTR (click through rate), so this is recommended BUT! It must be hidden and non-blatant so a good tip is to simply make a random word relating to your niche within the body a text link to your site/opt-in list/affiliate product.
Following submitting your article, you will have to wait for the article to be approved, following this it will go "live", check to see if its on google and how it ranks by searching for your keyword within quotes. To improve the rank simply build back-links to the article.
Now the magic! Now not only will people start reading your article and visiting your links after searching for your "keyword"! But publishers will begin publishing your artilce (complete with your resource box), on their websites/blogs/mailing lists and more and more people will start visiting your site, your backlinks will improve and thus your site will rank better in google.
Hope that helps clear things up for you guys!
Sam
P.S.
Phew that was a long one!
