How should I market this site?

    Hi all,

I just helped set up a website where I work to sell parts online. I work for a car dealership in NY and my boss wanted to list our parts online to sell. Now I need to figure out the best ways to market it. I have a Facebook site set up but I don't know how to get fans. I also have some Adwords set up and have a few clicks through that but still failing to convert sales.

Any ideas of what I can do to get more sales? We have a very competitive pricing structure, one of the top on the internet for parts and accessories of Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep.

Thanks for any advice and your time.

    John

List it in my free directory at Undiscovered Internet Websites - Cars, Boats and Motors

You should optimise your Adwords campaign. The usual Sales conversion rate could be somehing 2%. So, watch carefully what keywords are making most interest and improve your position on those.

Put up a small sign in the store to tell people that the store is live.

Create a blog. Once a week write a post about some of the products and how to use them. Link to the product page. Don't make the posts salesy.

Make them about a problem and explain how the product fixes that solution. Shoot video to go along with it.

Look up groups that are interested in cars or other subjects related to vehicles in facebook and then join them. You can also set up QandA promos and other car related facts that could draw in members.

This sounds to me like a perfect AdWords Use Case, but only if you have a reasonable budget: few thousand dolars per month. If you want to know more about it, I suggest you read this book: "Advanced Google AdWords" by Brad Geddes. It really opened a lot of new perspective for me.

You can also try to do a lot of SEO and there is another book I can suggest to you: "The Art of SEO: Mastering Search Engine Optimization" by Eric Enge, Stephan Spencer, Rand Fishkin and Jessie Stricchiola.

Of course all the above suggestions from @Julianflynn, @CanarsieBK and @veikoh are great also. Hope this helps, would be glad to know how everything turns out.

Submission to social bookmarking sites (Like Orangify), Gumtree/Craigslist adverts etc.

Maybe you should hire someone for SEO - then you'll be more exposed to the public.

    Hi John,
For setting up Adwords campaigns, try Google keywords tool (adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal).
to search the most popular keywords searched on internet that related to your website topic.
After you find the list of keyword, start to bid on those keywords.
Hopefully it will help to market your website.
Be careful to manage your AdWords cost.
