Blogs are a good way to make money online.

Obviously it won't make you a millionaire over night, but its good for spending money.

Like the OP said,

You can set up a blog with good content that will make viewers keep on coming back. Using click-bank or adwords would be a great start. Sure it might be along process, but it defiantly would get your feet wet a bit!

Thanks for the info on Weetix. I had not heard of that before. I'm going to look into it! I was going to add a comment about problogger but I see someone has already done that. They are a very helpful site.

You can make money with blogs but it is slow imho.

Since you have to pay for hosting,a domain, and design, none of these suggestions are really free. While you can set up a blog for free with an unoriginal template and find free hosting your domain will be hosted on somebody else's website; ex someoneelsessite.com/yourblog. Chances are that website will not provide any type of sufficient income. You might make $10 and get paid two months from now for 20 hours of work. Always remember the simple rule, time is money. How much is your time worth? If you spend 20 hours making a website that nets you $10 profit from your time, you are working for $0.50 an hour. Yes, fifty cents an hour. The best way to make money online is to pick up free stuff off craigslist locally and resell it on eBay. This is pure profit minus a few bucks for gas unless you can bum a ride. Otherwise, you have to spend a little money to make money. It doesn't have to be a lot, $10 will get you going. (Random fact: Facebook cost less than $1000 to start up, now currently worth over 300 million!)

Create a website that interests you and is targeted towards a specific niche. Now whether your website is targeted towards selling a specific product or it just provides useful information, you can make money using Adsense.

A few facts that needs to be clarified. First, Facebook is valued to be in the billions, not just over $300 million. Second, Facebook was primarily programmed by Mark Zuckerberg, who is considered a excellent programmer capable of hacking and all sorts of programming skills. Having said that, prior to their first initial funding, I guarantee you the out of pocket expense was FAR more than a mere $1000.

If you have a website already, put ads on it. Google's AdSense is real easy to use and can generate income quickly. Only problem I know of is that you can only get paid once you hit $50, so until then you have to wait.

The Google adsense is a really great idea, but if you're not generating any traffic to your website you'll have a hard time making any money.

There are quite a few ways to make money with a website for free. You can stick with a simple blog layout using wordpress. It's very simple to use and easy to implement content every day. With this blog you can either sell affiliate products, promote cpa(click per action) offers, or use adsense. All three of these methods are free to use and can make you a good amount of money. Build a website that actually helps people solve a problem and you will get great traffic.

You are going to have to invest something to make money. If you want a free option, then you are going to need to invest time. Blogs are a good place to start...if you have at least a year before expecting any sort of significant revenue.

I would suggest creating a well copywritten lead capture page on the front end of your blog or website and to start building a list. Nothing more valuable then a responsive list

Another thing... There are plenty of websites where you can do stuff to make money. This doesn't involve making a website, which could get you on the path to making money faster. For example, if you are good at graphic design check out 99designs.com and start making logos for pretty good money!
