With all do respect, I find these things is what is ruining Facebook, and other social networking websites.

When I log into Facebook, I want to see what my friends back home are up to, how they are doing, etc. Maybe share some photos and chit-chat with old buddies of mine.

Not get spammed with Cause invites, game invites, and all that garbage.

The ads on the side of the page are typically very irrelevant and I have never clicked on one. Firefox has adblocker enabled anyhow, so good bye ads.

    Thanks for this thread

This is an extremely interesting thread.

I already have a popular thread on Facebook on the subject which my website is concerned with.

However, I feel that it would be an abuse of the personal friendships I have there of 'plugging' my website. I suspect that I should produce a new Facebook page, but of course the disadvantage of this is that it will look like a manipulative marketing ploy and not based on any existing respect I have on Facebook.

Those are my initial feelings. Either way, Facebook and your business is a delicate relationship!

    Yup.

In facebook, you'll just have to find the balance of being really social, and be able to promote your business as well.

Rule of thumb: Be a resource, be friendly, and sell indirectly.

Don't be labeled as the 'Sales Pitch' person.

From what I understand, there are people who offered to place advertisements on their facebook group. To expand further, you will be allowed to send out 1 email to your group before hitting 5000 members. Before hitting 5000 members, they basically offer to sell company links/products/etc through emailing the members. So if you are to offer 5 links at $20, that will bring you a revenue of $100.
