I would also like to know this too! Is your page rank automatically updated when you have another backlink or do they do it monthly/annually???

Google releases the PageRank numbers to the public every three months.
But if they really love your content you can get from PR N/A to PR0 before the update.

Pagerank are based on different variables like for example number of incoming dofollow links, the OBL and the current PR of the page.

It does depend how much effort you put in and how lucky you are. Search engines are a bit slow, but be patient as if you have everything right you will get there. By the way just as you can gain good pr so you can also lose it. Google wiped out lots sites when they introduced penguin etc etc

For me, it would solely depend on your competition with your chosen keywords. If your keywords have high competition rate, then you will need to put up a lot of SEO effort to rank... And of course with low competition keywords, it doesnt take as much effort and usually within a month or so you will already see significant changes...

But yes, I think 3 months of continuous SEO effort will get you significant changes in your PR but no guarantee it will be on page 1.

Depends on the quality and quantity of backlinks. While with low quality backlinks you will get a PR 1 in an year on the other hand with high quality backlinks you can get a PR of 2,3,4, etc within 3-4 months. While there are cases in which sites using few black hat techniques have gained a PR 7 within 2 or 3 months.
So SEO is quite a hit and trial method. You can see what works for your site.

    Hi,

If you want a pagerank for a website than you should design user friendly website that is easy to navigate and has unique, original and informative content from the user's point of view. By doing such things, your website will get the pagerank within few days.

depends upon many things.. it depends upon quality of the site, pure, fresh and classy content.. also depends upon domain age.. the url structure, site structure, navigation structure etc. and last but not the least quality ethical off page work..
Site may achieve rankings in 2-3 months, but its tough to maintain the rank throughout the year. That requires the above things..
