Success in business does not necessary depends on innovation. Many other factors do play a part.

Some are blinded by those successful companies that became successful through innovation, and form a false perception that innovation is the key to success,

If anyone is willing to do some research, they will find that there are some highly successful businesses that did not depend on innovation but many other factors.

Even those who build a site, have adsense is not easy. Many factors come to play.

I see so many "made for Adsense" sites, yet I've never seen one make a real income. Same thing for most proxy sites. If your going to start a business make sure you invest some time and money into it, and that it is a genuinely good idea. As much as you want it to; copycat sites will never succeed, and you'll waste a lot of time trying to force one to.

Success=1% inspiration (innovation) and 99% perspiration.

I have just signed up for adsense but not because I expect to make a kiling off of it. It doesn't make sense not to run it. My site is free at present with no short term way of generating funds, everything is geared to the medium term so if I can pull in a few bucks while I am building my footprint then I don't see why not.

Some did not see adsense sites making money, but that doesn't mean that there aren't one that's making money. It may mean you have not found one that is making money.

I made some money from adsense, and I know of some of my friends' sites that are making money too.

The question is about positioning and marketing your site. Those not making money must be doing something incorrectly.

Yeah, it should be not easy to make huge money with adsense.
But, why not. If anyone knows the best way to make 2000 USD per month with adsense, please share your experience

Innovation is important to be able to be unique and catchy but in needs to be develop for a long period of time. Sometimes we need to be practical and use what is the available resources. Resources or trends that is already proven and effective to make money. The most important thing is for you to be able to handle the path you choose and be succeed. In short, it is in your own strategy to be successful.

I would have to agree with skyjoe.

Although it makes for a good movie/story - an original idea, or innovation isn't necessary for business success.

If you want to be insanely rich, create and control markets.

    Agreed

    I agree with Sam Borona.

Companies can follow two routes: Innovation, or Non-Innovation. Yes, it's that straight forward. But what makes a company Innovative, or not?

Innovative companies come from everywhere, and are defined by their ideas, and the founders passion. This can be seen in companies such as Microsoft, where a college student decided that he can make it, and didn't give up. Same goes for Apple Computers. Imagine what the board of directors thought when a researcher proposed the Ipod. If someone had shown that to my board and I, at that time, I would have laughed and turned the guy away. They took a chance, and went all out. Look where they are now. Innovative companies, as sam stated, usually fall within the prospecters area. They search for the ultimate payout, such as miners did during the gold rush's. Not every innovative company is like this, but many are.

Non-Innovative companies, however, are defined also by their ideas and passion, but they never are started on a chance or an untested market. Take Rockfeller for example. Oil was his game, and look we he did. Something that wasn't complex, and he knew, and he used to his advantage. He bought thousands of refineries, and used that to capitalize on everyone who needed oil for heating, fuel and business. Carnagie Steel did this as well. This man went out and built a company out of the least interesting product on the market: Steel. He bought a few railroads, some forests, some refineries, some smelting plants, and the mines, and turned it into a billion dollar company. Guess who made the money making the shovels?

Innovative is a great path to go with, but huge amounts of profits can also be made in non-innovative companies. My company is progressing the route of a non-innovative company, even though I started out as innovative. I quickly realized that I didn't like it too much. So I switched. Now, I'm well on my way to be a huge supplier in the Frederick, Maryland area.

I'd just like to thank Sam for his excellent comments.

The best and easiest way to success is to learn from the masters that have already done it.
Don't reinvent the wheel but learn in a matter of hours what it has taken these expert entrepreneurs sometimes years to find out and has often costed them hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars to get right. The best I have come across is the tools that Mike Filsaime uses.

I actually have an article about innovation and how it ebbs and flows. The people who have nothing to lose and everything to gain are most always the innovators. People who have established themselves, whether it is in their business or life path, these are the people who do not ever do anything innovative, and it's not always because they don't need to. People start to become focused not on what they stand to gain, but instead on what they stand to lose.

Me and my friend have been busting our brains out trying to think of innovative ideas. You say to make innovative ideas like it's easy. It's really not. Most of the things worth doing have already been made.

I agree. I try to balance my efforts between the tried and true and new innovations. I try to make the backbone of my income from stuff I've seen other people be successful at and use my profit to develop new ideas.

For anyone interested in going deeper into 'what constitutes/drives innovation,' take a look at CNBC's series 'The Business of Innovation.' You can download it for free on iTunes and it's really, really interesting. Just thought I'd put that out there

entrepreneur89, I totally agree with that.

I want to learn about all the new 'trendy' ventures like proxy startups etc so that I can put all that knowledge into my own innovation sometime in the future, although i would like to end up with something offline, with maybe some online dealing. I am 17 at the moment and make some money off dropshipping, I don't see too huge an expansion area in it, though its good for the moment.

    Again, great post!

    Well, yes and no..

Its important for people to actually see money comming in and whilst these businesses are not really my cup of tea either, making $6 is better than making nothing (im sure we have all been though that stage more than once)

Gerry Harvey (an aussie retailer) has a pretty straight forward approach to his his business. It goes somthing along the lines of "find somthing that you can sell for slightly more than you paid for it, then repeat the process over and over" (thats my misquote done for today ).

Thats my 2 cents (or $6 as the case may be)
