    You have to diversify

I know plenty of internet marketers that only concentrate on one site and make a lot of money. My friend has an nice website and he makes 5k/month just in adsense in just under a year. He found an untapped niche market and got very lucky.

I have not been lucky enough to find one site that makes that much money but I still make as much as my friend. In order to make $5k/month you have to make around $150-$160/day with one site which could be pretty hard. What if you made 10-15 adsense sites in which you made $15-$20/day? It's not easy but it is a lot easier than getting one site to make $150-$160/day.

What I did was created 10 adsense sites in which only about half make me any money. With those sites I make around $2k-$3k/month but I also supplement it with affiliate sites. I have around 5 affiliate sites that are not as stable as my adsense sites but there are days where I can make up to $500/day. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket.

It makes a lot of sense to have multiple smaller generating sites than few large ones. I've been playing with this idea for a while, so my question is this: How do you draw traffic to these sites? In my (albeit short and limited) experience it takes a lot of time and effort getting your site recognized enough by SEs to be profitable, if you don't already have a network out there. Do you use PPC (surely PPC can't be that profitable if you're targeting adsense unless you're targeting high-paying keywords)?

Hell you could invest the time to build 100 sites to bring in 10c a day each and you'd be flying, but you still need the traffic to these sites.

It does take some time and work. A lot of article submissions, putting up new content, and link exchange.

I think there is a fine balance between diversification and focus.
If you want to be rich, sell products and services.
If you want to be insanely rich, create and control markets.

I agree that multiple streams of income are a good idea, but you have to have the time to make some of them work well. I diversify by having different affiliates, that way if someone doesn't like one of them, maybe they'll like others. I sell regular products, advertise affiliates, and build a opt-in list for free eBooks that I can then market to a further level. You can see my opt-in method at http://www.buynick.com/freestuff/ That has been the best source of advertising for me.
