I never tried text link ads only because Adbrite looked like such a better deal. You can find cheaper ads and you get a description + link instead of just the link. Also, it is easier to figure out the exact page that your link will be on and the therefore you can figure out if the alexa rank is accurate. It is too easy for someone to start a crappy site on geocities and then sell the space on text link ads because it has a good alexa rank.

If your talking about TextLinkAds.com, then yes, we have used them, and they are high quality.

You don't buy text link ads for direct traffic, you buy them to increase the SEO value of the underlying text that is linked.

Alexa rank shouldnt matter nearly as much as PR when it comes to purchasing such links.

TLA is awesome - although it's horse shit that they take 50% - other than that, not a bad gig. Better than AdSense in my opinion.

From your hit status it states that you have obtained 300+ hits, how long did that take you to build up and was that paid advertising?

Just sell your own advertising. You can get more, and you don't have to pay 50%.

TLA is just for very lazy people.

You need to get your own domain name and ditch the wordpress extension too.

TLA isn't for lazy people - TLA is exposure you can't get otherwise because they already have a lot of recognition and that's where many people go to shop. Consumers buying links don't understand that the website owners are getting jipped and probably wouldn't care anyways. It's an easy checkout process and they have one place of billing vs. getting charged at many sites.

It provides a lot of convenience for both parties, but it just sucks they take such a huge chunk. I could see 20% maybe, but 50% is ridiculous.

That's blogspot. But yeah, $1-$7 for a domain. It's worth it.

Possibly. I guess if you're a small site that barely got accept to TLA then I could understand. But if you're one of the sites charging $200+ per link on their page (and getting it) there is NO WAY they should stay with TLA. That's $100 a pop down the drain a month. For that kind of money you could hire 20 eastern Europeans to FIND advertisers.

You can use leverage once you start making more money from TLA. Once you sell out your inventory, call them up and negotiate a higher earnings percentage. 50% is only the starting point.

The negative draw back to BUYING Text Link Ads is....

If someone(such as a competitor) could prove to Google or other search engines that your website is buying links...

You could be banned or at the least hurt your rankings tremendously.

The thing I don't like about Text-Link-Ads.com is that the inventory is public and with just a lil research, you can find out which site is buying for which site.

The real purpose of text link ads is to increase your PR and ranking position for that particular keyword. Not to gain direct traffic.

Buying links for this reason is a violation of Google's SERP.

Most of the time it would be near impossible to know who's buying what from who if done person to person...

But when you go to a market place, it's easy to find out, once you do, you simply report that person and there site could be penalized. And getting penalized is one of the worst things that could happen if your involved in SEO.
Which is what TLA;'s are all about.

Reporting is a very common thing- You could lose all your rankings by somthing as simple as having some words the same color as your background or having too many keywords in one page.

But buying text links is a big one...

If your going to a market place with links, just be careful.

I've tried TLA's and they are good. I don't think they are that good if you are the actual advertiser as they are rather expensive, but for the publisher, you can earn some nice money.
