Purchasing traffic for a new site.

    Hello, all!
I'm new to this site, and very new to the affiliate marketing game, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My question is this: With a brand-new site that I have just gotten on-line, and the need to generate some quick revenue to continue on, would it be a reasonable idea to buy traffic to my site, and, if so, whom would you all recommend? Or, am I conpletely out of my mind to even consider this option?
I really need some feedback on this one, folks!

Depends on how much money you have. You could just go around and advertise your self.
The point of philosophy is to start with something so simple as not to seem worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that no one will believe it.

I don't have a huge budget to work with, and I don't mind spending a little to get quality traffic. I suppose my question is, in your experence, does it prove to be a feisable approch?

Nobody, I repeat nobody "sells" quality traffic. There are better ways to get the visitors you need, but its not going to happen over night. If you buy traffic you are throwing money away. it would be far better to buy links if you must spend money

It depends on how your making money.

If you run adbrite you want traffic from USA and UK. It doesn't matter if they give a damn about your site or not.

If you run adsense you want traffic that is there for your site and product not for the hell of it, so you need quality traffic that is tagerted and NOT bought.

If you are selling something you need quality traffic from people INTERESTED not slightly interested, I'm talking about INTERESTED. This traffic sucks to get and I think this is what you need.

    Good luck! :-p

Point taken. Like I said, I'm new to all of this, and trying to figure out the best ways to get visitors to my site. (read: generate revenue!) I'm in the process of doing the blog stuff that everyone seems to be talking about, and I'm already doing the PPC route. I just wanted to know what else might be a viable option. I'm open to any and all advice I can get. It is definately appreciated!

    Randy,

My advice is that you start learning a little more before you dive head first. Figure out what you're doing before you do it. Buying traffic is a waste of money. Try reading up on the forums here and the forums over at www.sitepoint.com

I spent money trying to promote a new site on shopping.com. I might as well have thrown my money down the drain

I definately appreciate all the responses to my question. Looks like you all just saved me some cash, as I was about to start trying to buy traffic. I do have my site up with a few of the smaller PPC search engines, and have had a decent response to that, around .05% conversion. I was just wondering what else was within the realm or feisable possibilities. Thanks to all who have responded!

Purchasing traffic yuck! I think you should build up your business effectively by using free and paid advertising as purchasing traffic gets you general traffic whatever you are told!
