Purchased Great New Shopping Domain Name - now what?

Hi all,

I have just purchased what I think is a fantastic new domain name (registration being requested as I write this), I can't believe anybody did not have it but there you go,

I am hoping to set up a site where people with money to burn can come and buy anything from a USB rechargable battery to a Luxury Yacht, I have loads
of ideas running around in my head for the site but I have only very limited site building skills after just completing my first site (www.centralpcrepairs.com)

Having no money to spend on it after being off work for a year with a spine injury I was just going to make it myself until I have the money to have it made by pro's. but to be honest I dont know where to start with something with this type of potential,

What's the best way of setting it out, I was just going to start by using afiliate links and set them out in catergories or is there a better way.

My head is turning to mush as I speak.

I would appreciate any and all advice.

Need more details, like whats the domain, whats the plan so far etc.

you'll probably need a shopping cart, or other scripts to help you run the site. I'd look into all the technical stuff first, then get the design done, then (or at the same time) do the SEO, then advertise, then get affiliates.

Simplest & cheapest might be to install just a simple piece of blog software and a basic template (wordpress comes to mind). Grab affiliate links, and start blogging.

One important thing though, if you want to actually try to make money, is to create a unique voice. Don't be just another blog that says 'hey, i think this is nice, so go buy one.' Be entertaining, profound, insightful, vulgar, poetic, whatever you have to do to create a site that isn't just another attempt at trying to fool a (usually smarter thank you think) user.

I am finally ready to start up this site and I have a few good unique ideas that I think will generate quite a bit of traffic especially within the blogging community, my problem is that I have very limited skills in web building and I think I will need php\mysql to set it up right so users can log in to do what I see will be the driving force behind the site.

I was messing about with Tradedoubler and CJ content for a while but I can see a brighter future other than just filling in with ad feeds.

I obviously dont want to give away too much info but as far as I can tell these are a pretty unique ideas.

I like the idea from DaveAPN regarding the blog but I think it has more potential than just another blog site, but if I dont get these ideas up and running then it may just turn into that.

I am not sure that domain name will conduce folks to shop. It is rather psychologically reprehensible, in that people want to buy without feeling guilty. With a name like spendsomecash, people will really think twice before shopping there.

But, I could be wrong. Keep us updated on how things go!
