Is anyone here successfully involved in affiliate marketing?

I have been in the affiliate marketing business for a really short time now (maybe a couple months). I am currently a software engineer and have been doing real estate on the side for the past few years.

I have read a lot of affiliate marketing through forums and such, but I find them lacking real substance. There are hints here and there, but no one is showing their full hand, and I don't blame them.

I am looking for young (or old) people that are currently successful in affiliate marketing, so that we can talk about our systems of generating revenue. Send me a PM or just email me at aalonzo@gmail.com.

Or maybe we can have a discussion here...but I think it'll be really hard to have any real substance also because no one wants to show all their secrets (including me).

I am signed up with Amazon's Affiliate program, haven't had all that much success with them though. Then again, I don't use them in a manner that would make me much money.

I have had success in the past with affiliate marketing on an older blog, through Commission Junction.

    Take a look at http://www.a4uforum.co.uk/forumindex.php?

Its a busy forum full of many people that are earning their living from affiliates.

I personally prefer letting e.g. www.adbrite.com take care off it. You make money even when you nobody wants to advertise on your site (as long as people click on the ads).

Affiliate schemes can be good but if a possible customer deletes his/her cookies etc then re-visits the site externally (not through your affiliate banner), you will miss out on a sale.

I had adbrite on my site but it was a banner that said "your link here" and I didn't like it so I removed it...when you first joined did that happen to you too?

I actually bought the site in February but it is only 13 months old. It is in the 50 - 60 range in searches for poker blog so people are interested in advertising. I can only imagine what people in th top 10 or 20 are making. Hopefully I can get up there in the next few months.

heya guys, might me a bit off topic:
but i found tyler over a sitepoint. And he makes around $5000 a month, in mostly forum advertising.
I am posting this because over at his blog he has an inspirational FLASH video, that frankly, changed my view of masking $$ on the internet without selling products or services.
so, check out this blog, and watch that Video

I go to Tyler Cruz's website too. I also visit Jon's site and Chris' site. http://www.aojon.com/ and http://www.websitepublisher.net Good sites for people thinking about making sites with ads as the revenue source.

that tyler video is quite good, I think he makes most his money off the poker site ( could be wrong).
