    Increasing CTR?

Normally i get around 800 hits a day to my site - www.hacknmod.com - however, i have a really really low CTR ratio of just .2% of visitors clicking on advertisments. How can I increase this CTR to gain more revenue from visitors?

    thanks!

    hey...is this 800 hits discounted for bots/spiders?

on most of the sites I've managed, bots account for up to 70% of recorded hits

if a lot of those 800 hits are bots, then your current ctr might well be in the industry average (1-2%)

no, they are not bots. I recently got a link on a high traffic site and have been getting a lot of hits from that site - they are real people, not bots...so...how do i improve ctr?

    Hello,

I would use less images and more text content. Try and get your ads as relevant as possible to the website. You will have one or two bots because you will have a Google page crawler on your page scanning the content of your website. You may not notice the Bot(s) because they do reloads on pages that look like real people.

    1. Lots and lots of text content

    2. Try to match your ad text-color and background color with your pages (this will sometimes trick visitors into clicking on an ad)

    3. Position your ads in the center or middle of your pages (in between your paragraphs if possible). visitor focal-points automatically ignore ads on the edges of your site, they usually focus on the center

    4. More content!

    Hope this helps

I agree with the two posts above, text is so much better than images. I use text in the form of recommendations on my free ebook site http://www.buynick.com/freestuff/ and I get pretty decent ctr's.

Take out the thing that says "Partners". Test different colors. Try white background. Try black text, blue link, and grey background. I don't like the blue the ad text is right now. Put pictures by them.

I visited your site. A nice little site you got there . As for the ads, i would really emphasize on relevance. Just make sure your showing ads are close to, or exactly what your clients/visitors are interested in. If people visiting that site are interested in the stuff in the ads, you will ultimately get more clicks. I might be a little wrong, but thats just my input. Forums i click on ads usually have ads showing stuff i'm interested in, and relevant to what i went to the forum to talk/read about.

The main way to increase CTR is to put the ads in a more noticable place which is normally blended into your sites main content. But just because you do this doesn't always mean that you will receive more clickthrus are it also depends on how targetted and what quality your traffic is that is coming to your site.
