How does it all work?

I 've recently set up adsense on my website and was very surprised to note that they don't explain how much money i will get from each click etc. However i thought i would be able to work it out myself fairly quickly but after a few weeks i am even more confused. One day i get 10 clicks and get $2 in total and then the next day i get only 5 clicks but get $5. Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on?

It is based on how much the adwords customer pays for each click. They may pay $1 for 1 click and $0.05 for another. Then you get a percentage of that amount. The percentage is not disclosed by Google, although you can get a pretty good estimate because Google (unlike Yahoo) discloses it on their financial statements.
