How do you use Sql or Access databases within your website?

I am new to the web development gig. I was wondering if anyone out there could lend some insights to using databases generated from web forms and the use of autoresponders. I have several questions about doing this.

    1. If you use front page to build a web form, does the database automatically get created?

    2. If it does, how do you access the information in the database?

    3. How do you log the information in the database and have an auto responder respond to the new request?

    4. Are there any Freeware autoresponders available?

    Thank You for your insights!

The answers you're looking for aren't easy.
I've only used front page a couple of times, but my understanding is that it is just a fancy HTML editor. It will not create a database, nor will it help you interact with databases.

This type of thing requires a lot of research. Just creating the database can be a difficult task. You must learn about how relational databases work.

Once you have a database, you must write your page as a server side script to interact with the database. The script will usually generate SQL statements that are sent to the database management system for processing. And then, based on the results of that, generate a dynamic HTML page that it serves up to the user.

With all that said, depending on what you are trying to accomplish, there may be pre-built solutions out there for you to use.

I know this has all been very vague, but it's the best I can do.

I don't have experience with autoresponders so I can't help you there.

    to answer your questions

    1) front page is just a html editor, it does not create any databases or scripting for you

    2) as above

    3) creating a database and working with the database requires a certain level of understanding in database design (as well as its operation) so its not just click and play, although there are alot of scripts that provide you with enough scripting to allow you to do that

    4) autoresponders are usually built into web hosts already so there is usually no need to create this function yourself.
