    Free Script can pay

You don't always have to do much to make a few bucks to build your advertising fund.

I set up this site and my only expense was $7.50 a year for the domain. I hosted on some reseller space I already have and the script that drives it was free.

It's got a Google PR3 last I checked, so smart marketers want to be on there with a keyword link to their own site, so the traffic is reasonable.

What advertising did you do to get your site to a PR3?

I have several sites at or above PR3 but don't activly persue that goal. It just happened as a result of good honest practices to serve others I feel.

The site seems pretty cheesy to me and no real point besides to hopefully make a few bucks on google adsense. My question then is that what good honest practices attracted people to the site? How did you get it out there so people would start posting their links?

That's leading with your best foot forward when you want to know something.

I sure wouldn't want to bore you with my amateur tactics.

Yep, honesty is my best foot forward. I'm sorry, but sites like this remind me of those million dollar pixel for sale sites, which just seem so ugly and cheesy, I wouldn't feel right having my customers even look at it.

Seems to me like this site is just a cheap gimic to get the site into a high search engine ranking, though I'm not sure it would actually even work. Links alone don't make the site have high search engine ranking, and sense none of the words are repeated, doesn't seem like it would have high keyword count either. If a human from the search engine company saw that this site had a high position that might be likely to ban it.

Hey Nick is certainly entitled to his opinion and I really don't mind his attack. I have been doing Internet Marketing for years and have had a lot worse. At least he does have some valid arguments, even if they are flawed.

If this were my main interest online, he would be absolutely right, but it's only a simple ad site and surprisingly enough all those links were not entered by me.

If nothing else, it lets beginner marketers see that I offer free help to them and they are more interested in looking toward me for other advice. Just another page in a portfolio of websites.

So Nick, you can fuss and fume all you want and we'll see who ends up with the best image projected from this exchange.

Oldbuddy, wasn't trying to fume and fuss, just giving everyone my 2 cents, which was, I thought, the purpose of a forum. I seriously looked at it, and decided it wasn't for me, and I was just explaining why so others might see my point of view on the matter. I'm not trying to persuade anybody to use or not use this product. Nothing against you personally and it is an interesting concept.

As a web surfer I certainly wouldn't want to come across one of these sites when trying to find something I was looking for, would you?

No problem, I'm cool with it all.

Of course I wouldn't want to come across that site unless I was looking for a quick free PR3 link, and probably wouldn't. I doubt if I get much search engine traffic there and don't care.

But if I SEND someone there it's with a motive, to let them get a free link to help attract the Google crawler to their new page, and it does just that. Any SEO eBook will tell you that.

Sure it has AdSense on it, and it just barley pays the bills. That's fine with me, I didn't create it as a money maker. It's just one more tool in my tool belt.

It also functions as a cool URL I can use for redirects. I have my own script that lets me track not only how many people visit but where they came from. So if I get a group that I have been telling how to get free Beef Jerky by using some of the strategies I do, I can send them t a URL like http://GetYoursFree.com/jerky which to me is a lot more attractive than some affiliate link. That's just an example.

There is often a lot more that what meets the eye.
