    Create Traffic By Blogs

If you are looking for a way to drive traffic to your website, look to your blog. Blogs are an excellent way to communicate with your target market and invite them to visit your site. Here are some tips you can use to blog for traffic.

Post on your blog regularly; at least 3 times a week. By updating your blog on a regular basis, you are giving your readers a reason to keep referring back to your blog. If you are providing timely and informative posts, your readers will see you as an expert in your field. They will turn to your blog as a way to seek answers to their questions. Posting regularly also develops a relationship between you and your customer. They will get to know you and trust your opinion.

By installing a feed burner onto your blog, you will make it easier to keep in contact with your customers. Your readers will be able to subscribe to your blog and choose to have new posts delivered right to their email or computer’s homepage. There are several services to choose from, and you can get a basic service for free. Setting up the service is easy; you simply install a small piece of HTML code onto your blog.

You can also opt to have a “blog roll” or list of blogs your readers may find helpful on the side of your page. If you put the link to another blog on your page, ask for a link back to your blog, too. This can help widen your audience, as readers of others’ blogs will see the link to your blog and check it out. Just remember to keep your target market in mind. It doesn’t make sense to trade links with just any blog.

One of the best, and easiest, ways to drive traffic to your website through your blog is to link back to your site as you post. Each time you put a new article on your site, you can write a “teaser” post containing an excerpt of the article and include a “read more” link to the page on your site that features the complete text. Also include links to older articles that become timely again. For instance, you may have put up an article on your site in the summer that explains how to keep kids occupied by creating costumes. When Halloween comes around, don’t forget to link back to that article. You may also want to include links to your opt-in pages or pages.

As you start practicing these strategies check your page stats and see how many visitors are coming to your site through links placed on your blog. You will get a better idea of what is working and will be able to increase traffic even further.

I had a blog and found that it was more work to market the blog than it was to just market my main sales site.

Hmm. I use myspace, just changed over from msn livespaces and have found joining groups a great way of getting traffic to the blog and then on to the site. Like anything else it takes some work, but definitely works.

BTW I am averaging about 90 people a day through my site after 3 months, how does this compare to other people's efforts?

It just seems like something is lost there. I understand that the blog is supposed to be the "sticky" part of attracting people back to your site over and over, but it just seems like the more hoops you make people jump through to get to the place where you actually sell products/make money is how you lose customers. Do you feel like you do better sales wise shuffling people through your blog before you direct them to your sales site?

Don't forget that you need to write compelling posts or else no one will read it.

I for one hate reading posts from people with no idea what they are talking about (try hards).

How do you market your blog? Do you just let the search engine pick it up or do you use some blog advertising software?

In my opinion, SEO is the best, as well as social tagging and RSS feeds (to blog search engines).

Newsletters will also get your readers to come back on a daily/weekly basis. Its alot of effort and most of the time, the return is very low.

Ofcourse there are bloggers who are on the A-lists, but they are really good writers as well as popular online (and they make alot of money via different methods)

hmmm thats a tough one. My blog is doing good. But I dont remeber how I got so much traffic on it..

the blog is www.croatia2008.net.ms I think I went on other blogs and asked people to visit. I guess the best way is to do it thru MySpace. Dedicate a myspace page to your blog, and make friends and they will visit if you ask them to. Thats how I did it.

Integrating your blog with your website can be done and is quite effective.
If you want to be rich, sell products and services.
If you want to be insanely rich, create and control markets.

what they forgot to mention is that you can't expect instant results from blogs, it takes months or even a few years before a significant amount of readership to your blog

That is why I have never thought of having a blog. The reasons for this is because I would imagin that it would just be like having another site where you have to keep adding content to it and just promote it as much as your normal site.

So I just prefer to have my site and that's that. lol

What is the basic difference between a blog and a website? Why wouldn't you just create a blog on your website instead of having two different places?

Blogs are an easy start for a web novice. But, I think in the long run you should create your website and start promoting it. Blogs have certain advantages such as frequent caching....

Whether it is a a blog or a website content is what that matters.

Not if you are targeting keywords with your content !
