    Blog revenue...

I know there is a previous post on making money from blogs, but I just wondered if there are any people on YE who make serious money from their blog, i.e more than a few dollars a month lol?

I know advertising (especially Adsense) and affiliate schemes seem to be the pick of the day, however what other options are available to blog owners, if any?

I make more than a few dollars a month via my 2 blogs, but its not much.
I just started two rubbish ones, just to jump on the bandwagon, so im sure if your blog is decent you could make a little.

This months income comes to $22, so I cant quit my day job yet

Only a rare few make a living off blogging.

I mean even Yaro on www.entrepreneurs-journey.com has an awesome blog with long posts, but he isn't making much off it (definitely not enough to live off).

You have to understand that blogs are best used as marketing tools. A blog should be used in conjunction with a business site. It provides fresh content for search engines to crawl, adds some information for readers and allows you to pitch both yourself and your business... i.e. people read your posts and find out about you and whether or not they can trust in your business and whatever you're selling.

    cheers

    blogs vs forums

Blogs are pretty good at raising revenue... but forums are better... target audiances, such as sporting teams etc... setup forums with google ads.. you can make a pretty decent income.

... wrong. *Some* people can make an alright income doing this.

Most medium-sized forum owners I have known struggle to make the effort worth the returns.

It's only the super-large forums like something awful that would make a lot.

www.tylercruz.com is one blog I recently came across and this guy has about half a dozen forums setup and making $5k a month.... though then take into that his largest forum, www.pokerforums.org , would be the biggest earner and mainly uses poker-specific ads.

My personal blog, www.mebreezy.com doesn't have ads on it. I promote a forum I frequent on there though.

I think his point may have been that forums will give you more revenue as more people frequent them, but that depends how busy you forums are.

Take www.TylerCruz.com for example.... His blog has a couple of hundred hits per day but his www.porkerforums.org site has 4000 members....his forums generate his income.

But, take www.articlesofsuccess.com (my site), its a blog with a couple of hundred hits per month and generates more income than my forums www.fightdungeon.com

It works both ways, just depends on traffic and how targetted ads are. On Tyler's poker forums his ads are all Poker ads hence the reason they get clicked more.
    Kind Regards,

    Khalid.

To be successful as a blogger, you must be devoted - practically a fanatic. You need a large readerbase, and the only way to really get that is to post relevant stories multiple times a day. If a blog is not constantly providing fresh articles, your readers will find one that does.
