Sure affiliates work. I am averaging good money every week on my blog after only 2 months. My affliates keep tripleing my income every 2-3 weeks. My blog income comes from advertising space and affiliates. The ratio would be 85%-15%, affiliates being the 85% of my blog income. The money is motivation to do more.

It all depends on what you mean by respectable. Some affiliates pay better than others.

    Hope this helps,goodluck.

    Affiliates for real

There is definately a use for them if you either want to generate a little extra income or maker enough to quit your day job (job - just over broke).

Affiliates and affiliate programs are for real and they work in respectable ways if you are promoting the right products and in the right way. Many people are making a living as an affiliate, case in point, a well know success story is Rosalind Gardner. You can check out more of her info here (just copy and paste the link): superaffiliatehandbook.com/cbae/?a=ak6wjO6Yk

She is true to life and the real deal. Plus there are many, many more. I haven't achieved retirement status yet, but I do generate a small additional income from my affiliate programs and websites.

I also recently lauched a review website for home based business and affiliate marketing called Work From Home Business Report (see link in sig below). Only a handful of items at the present, but my list of postings is growing daily as I review programs that I have tried over the last 4 years.

Either way I wish you much success on whatever you decide to do.

Yes, they do work! If you want a pretty good program, pm me and I'll shoot you a link. It's 100% free to join, and pays well.

Helping other people out isn't a bad thing. It's not like they get part of your commission. I'd be happy to tryout someones program if they gave me the rundown on it and it fell within my interest

Affiliate programs do work if you want them to work. It takes more than just signing up for a website. Its definitely not the amount of time you would spend at a regular job but there is a commitment. Be sure this is something that you want and I'm sure you'll succeed and have fun doing it.

Affiliate programs to work! We've had great success with our own and we have used them to supplement our business. I would recommend taking advantage of affiliate opportunities.

Make sure you cloak the affiliate links so people can't take away your commissions.

Affiliate programs are a good way to bring in some cash. How much cash will depend on how much effort you put into it. I use programs on Commission Junction, ClickBank and a few others. One of my favorites is the eBay affiliate program (CJ) because you earn $25 for each new user that buys something within 30 days of signing up. You would be surprised how many people do not have eBay accounts yet. I am still somewhat surprised whenever I get a $25 commission for a new user.

If you have a quality product that will convert well (priced right) and still have room to pay an affiliate a commission of $20 or more dollars - you can quickly recruit a small army of affiliates to market your products - an super affiliates who can market very well.
