Adsense - is it worth it?

I've an audio booksite and have two slabs of Adsense adverts that have brought in zilch (though not much traffic as of yet). The Adsense is not optimised but I see this as yet another job to add to my long list (I'm just starting)and am wondering whether I should just replace the Adsense ads by images or ordinary adverts or whether it's worth persevering?

Can Adsense blocks have a negative effect of sales? I'd be interested in any thoughts.

I think they definitely do not look good. I think you should build your traffick first until you have a good amount returning visitors. Google.com/analytics is a good way to measure your traffic and figure out where everyone is coming from and what content they are looking at the most on your site. Once you have reached good consistent traffic I think that you can add the adsense.

To be honest I get turned off by adsense. When I go to a site for the first time I would rather see a clean site with no ads. I also think that once you decide to add it to your site always keep it as dsicrete as possible.

Hope this helps...just my opinion though!

    Adsense Is Worth It

In my mind adsense is worth keeping on your site, because google will crawl & rank websites with adsense, higher & more often than sites that do not use it.

Think about it... It benefits google to rank sites that use adsense higher, because they ultimately benefit from advertisers looking to publish ads on the top sites (their own bread & butter) Any site that does not use adsense means little to nothing in the form of revenue to them.

Stop wasting your time making stupid threads. Make a site, get traffic then you can put anything up and it'll make money.

Thumbs up Adsense is definately worth it.

Adsense works for me as a part of the whole package. This turn-key, wealth building package brings you step by step through the whole process. http://www.youraffiliatesignup.com/?aff=979560

wow, that might of worked 10 years ago online. Things are a little different these days.

If you're trying to sell something, I wouldn't suggest advertising. Your product obviously doesn't sell very well if you're trying to gain aditional revenue from generic ads such as adsense. I would only suggest advertising if your website is free. You gotta think of things from a customers point of view.

I agree. You could also be taken away from your business with related ads.

I don't believe that google will give your site a higher rank if you have adsense. I think that is more a rumor. How would you support/prove that statement?

I agree with MojaCity. I've seen many sites ranked high without adsense. It makes sense why they would do it but I don't think they would do that. It would create legal problems for them.

You do not receive a higher ranking if you use AdSense, but OnlineMoney101 is right in that your site will be crawled more often - and not only by the AdSense spider, but by the Google Bot.
