I never got round to getting rid of them! I'll do that in a minute.

Yeah i'm using Homestead SiteBuilder. It's really good so far. Wouldn't have done without it.

i'll contact Homestead with that question.

I'm just changing all the tags and revising titles etc. I've started to get traffic that hasn't been at my own cost. Most from AOL/Google.

I'm keen to start developing my Hotel Directory. Do you think i should follow up a fee for listing on the site or do you thnk it' best i do it for free??!!

Thanks!!!!

It'll generally take a few days/weeks for google to pick up changes in your meta tags and site content... so i doubt whether the changes you've just made are the cause of the increased traffic from google

i reckon you do it for free... at least for now. you're gonna need to be getting a lot of traffic before you charge a fee. Also, more listing means more content which will drive more visitors to your site through search results

Ok great. That's what i was thinking too. I'm going to start putting some of these directories together and hopefully it will increase my traffic, like you said.

But is it ethical to ask for a fee in the future? What if there are people who aren't willing to pay???

i wouldn't worry about the ethics... there's nothing wrong with providing a valuable service for a fee.

i wouldn't consider the feasibility purely from a business perspective.

What you might be able to do is host a mini website within your site for guesthouses etc.. and then charge a fee

If i was a hotel owner i wouldn't pay you for a simple listing, unless you were the market leader in the industry in that area

Okay i'll take that into consideration. Becoming one of the leaders in the market for this area shouldn't be too difficult as there are very few sites like this.... ones that are a bit more personal and target such a precise area. My biggest competitions are huge sites like tripadvisor etc.

It's time to start compiling all the info i have and do some more research. It's going to take a while.

All the best Dylan.

oh by the way i still have traffic coming from somewhere.... i'm not paying for it! Trying to get some of those visitors to come back. I've had a couple who have so far, but not many at all.

Hiya,

I've reposted those google ads on the home page. Some advice...?

What do you think of the background colour? Left and right are different. Is 160x600 too wide? Is left AND right too much? If yes, which do you think is best?

the site doesnt display correctly in firefox now.
you've changed the title. why?
that last bit of the title is going to do nothing for SEO.
