Do affiliates really make money?
Hey guys, I've lurked on this YE forum for quite some time, just browsing around looking for ways to make money online.
Do affiliates really make a lot of money?--it seems to have a mixed response on this board....
PLEASE NOTE: I am not here to look for a quick cash scheme or zero-work-put-in-and-big-bucks type of deal here...
I am more than willing to put the time and effort into this, but I'm wondering if this is a legitimate source of income...as I am very interested...
I am currently working full time, the usual 40 hours, 9-5 job and am NOT looking to quit my day job--I am looking to make some serious passive income.
I would love to make $1500-5K EXTRA every month, but again, obviously WHO WOULDN'T?
Just wondering with the NECESSARY time & effort put in, can it be done....
I apologize if this question is elementary...by no means am I an expert, and as you guys can probably already tell, a total novice...just looking for some honest opinion & advice...
Thanks and great site!

You can make decent money with affiliates. Before you do, you should study up on adwords and seo also. Building a niche is very important and adding affiliates associated with that niche will give you a targetted audience

I agree with kendall. You have to find a niche. You can just put random affiliate links on your site if they don't fit. I actually market my affiliates. For instance, I sell turnkey websites and informational products on eBay. I then sell web hosting (through an affiliate), to my customers. I get a decent conversion rate this way.

Yes, you can make millions at it. The people that can't make money out of it don't understand their markets and advertising.
Internet Marketing is a skill, understanding it will payoff.

You can make money from affiliate programs. But do you have the commitment to make it happen.
It takes effort, discipline, determination to succeed in affiliate programs. You got to learn the ropes, make mistakes, correction. Think and take action.
Most of the time, you will for months before you made your first sale.
If you are not ready, do not step into it. Do not waste your time and effort. If you are in for a get rich quick stuff, affiliate is not for you.
Most affiliates who succeeded takes a long time to find the winning strategy.

Hi,
you get a mixed response here in the forums because there are different types of people and not everyone is making money.
The basic idea is to make a site on a topic that you can write well about and then try to get people to your site.
and when people come to your site , they either buy or leave depending on your content and whether you are able to convince them to buy or not.
So, thats where you have to work.
The bottomline is focus on one thing and then keep improving it.
hope this helps.

you can make some good coin on affiliate programs....but you must remember several important things...
- you must get decent amounts of traffic....a key element to making salse.
- you must sell a nice high quality popular product
- the sales copy you send them too must be magical and get potential prospects to whip out the old credit card quicker than the speed of light.
I dont care if the sales page is 1 page long or 30 pages long it must do the job of AIDA attract them, keep their intrest , make them desire the product , then make them act and buy the product.
If you are gettting traffic to a page as an affiliate and not making sales there are a few things that could be going wrong but realisically it all comes down to the copy on the page...if its crap copy it wont covert....you should be seeing a 1-4% on most products on the net.....actually 4% is pretty high good conversion rates hang around the 1 - 2%
hope this helps

I think you really need to identify your target audience first.
Also you need to pick the right and legit kind of Affiliate programs. Before you jump into it, you need to research and study it first. That way you're sure that you're going the right way.
