How do you monetize a free site?

I have started using affiliates (currently have earnperinstall.com, amazon, and widget bucks) but have heard that Zango Cash, CJ and Azoogle are some of the best paying affiliates, others have also said there are 'lesser known affiliates that pay even more'

First of all who are the lesser known/higher paying affiliates---anyone know?

Second Since I have a free site I am wondering if it is best to use, pay per impression, pay per install, or pay per click (if there are others let me know)
I dont want a site filled with ads but want to earn some money


Keeping in mind that my site is a movie site, which one will work best?

You forgot pay per action... basically where someone signs up for something after following the affiliation link.

The best flat rate you can get is around $200 per action, but this is for some seriously expensive sign ups. Don't expect to get more than a sale a month on those things, and your site needs to be REALLY specific for it too.
The average I've seen sits between $20 - $25 USD. The group I'm with, Affiliation Cash, does $27.50USD on the idea of volume over margins is a better way to make profits.

Affiliation Cash's niche is in media sharing and online media streaming, so if you reckon your sites are good for that, gimme a PM, and we can chat about it.


I've seen some very good payouts on PPC (like $1/click) but these are for REALLY specific fields, like spectrographometers n what not, where $1 a click doesn't matter, so long as they can sell a $15k machine by the end of a few thousand clicks.
I kinda doubt your sites would be geared to that end of town though.
