The original poster is flat wrong. Affiliate marketing is a great idea if done properly. However, there seems to be this popular misconcenption that putting up a website or a banner is all there is to being an affiliate. If you follow that line of thought, then yes, unless you happen to live in a country where $1 a day if a lot of money, being an affiliate it useless.

Remember that being an affiliate means that you are trying to sell a product. And that means that the product needs to be actively marketed. You still have to identify your target customer group and see what you can offer them and what sort of service they would want. Successful affiliate marketing does involve a lot of work, but the rewards are definitely worth it.

Eric easiest thing you can do is use Google Adsense as it provides you with an affiliate program with out you having to do all the hassle.

I'm no longer seriously involved in affiliate programmes and marketing (mainly because it's not exactly my cup of tea and because I believe there are alternative ways of making money online). With that said, since I have been investigating various opportunities for earning money online, I have met quite a few people whom I consider to be rather reliable who claim that they have made sufficient amounts of money using affiliate programmes.

For example, one of the affiliate programmes I am involved with provides hosting services. The way it does it is that when you sign up, you are provided with a professional-looking website template, which you can tweak to a certain extent (e.g., change pricing options, offer new packages, etc). Now, I can assure if that if I just let it sit there - as I already have - I'll make no money whatsoever. However, if I was serious about it - and I'm not - I'd be out there buying AdWords campaigns, posting links and buying traffic (just to name some promotion techniques). The point is that selling an affiliate product is not entirely different from selling a product that you own from the marketing point of view.

They basically love all the traffic because they can charge advertisers good money and give their actual MLM users chump change. If you want to get in on that business, I suggest you start an AP, not join one!

What are you talking about, you obviously have no clue. You like a poor friend giving financial advise . You're completely ridiculous.

Well you can use google adsense like i said before but i here yahoo is offering one and this is supposed to generate a little bit more.

But scrapp the idea for an affiliate program for a while sell the space as advertising. This will generate you more income possibly as you could recieve $200+ for a small site a week and for a larger site with alot of views well that amount can go into alot of money.
