Hey Guys,

I posted for the first time yesterday as a newbie. I didn't say much so let me give you some insight into the nature of my business.

1. I own WingNite.com. I came up the the idea while attending university; a few years ago.
2. A Wing Nite is typically a North American term that is used to advertise discounted pub, bar and restaurant food specials on any given night of the week.
3. WingNite.com then is an online pub, bar, and restaurant food and event specials directory.
4. Bar owners can sign up. The site will generate for them a user name and password, allowing the client to update their food and event specials at any time.

We launched the site about a month ago. We average about 8000 hits/wk. We definitely have the user base, but we really must get more bar owners to sign up. I've had some offers from vc's that want 40% ownership, in return they would implement their own sales team... I don't know if I want to go in that direction. Any advice or comments would be helpful.

very difficult. i can't think of one player in your space who's been successful.

if i did, there'd be some data points useful for intelligent feedback and advice.

it seems the course of action is to revert back to basics and analyse the characteristics of your advertising product against competing advertising products.

i've got no idea what venture capitalist would buy into this because there are multiple serious issues which hang as clouds and obscure blue sky outcomes for wingnite

i don't mean to be a killjoy or a hater, i've just seen so many of startups like your fail, and I really haven't seen one succeed. if you can point me to a similar statrup to yours who've ipo'd or been acquired, I think it would be useful for this conversation.

other than that, I'm always open to going back to the drawing board and cook up a strategy which you guys can follow to get results.

It sounds like you might have already have the solution to your problem. You just need to hit the pavement.
