search engine optimization where you make your site perfect for the search engine bots.

I.e. good keywords, meta tags, descriptions, using fast loading images etc.

IMO, people think SEO is everything. SEO helps, but you should not base everything around it.

I agree.

Actually, traffic in general is basically worthless if your web site doesn't have a monetization mechanism or if your web site cannot convert.

I suggest, before you spend months trying to get your web site picked up by the major search engines, test to see if your web site can convert using ppc.

If your web site is a blog/with adsense, then this may be unreasonable.

However, if your web site is a standard e-commerce web site, you're going to wanna test to see if your product/marketing/copy-writing is healthy enough to bring in revenue.

The reason why I wanted SEO tips is because as a new blog, I want to be able to get into search engines like Google quickly. This will mean that I have more traffic = more growth.

I agree that SEO is not everything, with blogs in particular it is important to post regularly as search engines love fresh content. But good SEO can just help your site rankings, even by a little.

If you're taking months to get into Google, the problem is your web site. I have never taken much longer than about three weeks.

The sandbox does not exsist.
