What is the best shopping cart?

I am going to host my new e-commerce project and need to know what is the best shopping cart.
I know that espinda.com offers Oscommerce in their hosting plans.
Is it good one?
What shopping cart do you consider to be the best one? And why?

I've heard good things about both zen cart and cube cart. They are both very reliable and have a vast amount of add-ons and templates to customize.

I personally think that magento would be a perfect fit for your e-commerce web sites. I recognized that serverpoint.com offers magento in their web hosting accounts and I am sure that this company would be a perfect alternative to the mentioned one. You will never experience any downtime, or it appears, their unrivaled team will solve it within 30 minutes or so.

I would say OpenCart - Open Source Shopping is worth a look at, always worked well for me in the past.

Hello,

I will recommend Joomla with its addon named VirtueMart. You can find examples websites through the portfolio link mentioned in my signature. Virtuemart is reliable, capable of managing as much as category, sub ctaegory & products you would like to add.

You can google for it to know more about it.

Thanks

Think that espinda.com and their e-commerce web hosting plans will be a perfect fit for you. I have seen many good feedbacks about their services. I think that Oscommerce is a power-user shopping cart with a big variety of modules and support of almost every payment gateway. The price for web hosting plans is affordable, so why not to try them.

Google Payments also supplies a shopping cart system. I have no experience with it though, but it is tightly integrated with their Payment service, which is pretty good with respect to the terms (no monthly payment, but a per-order percentage that decreases with volume).

digiShop

Hey Creative

I have been using digiShop Pro by SumEfffect. They do a version which you can host yourself or choose their hosting.

I spent at least a week comparing systems that run on php. In the end my main reasons for choosing digiShop were:
  • it is quite easy for a web designer to come to grips with when integrating it into an existing website
  • Very flexible - which means you can configure it in many different ways to suit your needs
  • Good set of marketing and promotional tools
  • Can be search engine optimized
  • Integrates with lots of different payment systems

You don't need to be a web designer to make a site with it from scratch - only to integrate it into an existing site.

It's not free, but not very expensive compared to some products out there.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Nice to see another believer in Joomla. But I have to say that Magento is the best. It offers a better backend management. It was difficult using VM for large website and uploading, changing content, prices, promotion, and much more.
