How can I start an ecommerce website when I do not know web design? Is there a simple site I can use? Any books or cd's you recommend I can use to learn web design? Thanks all

You should probably consider getting a partner or hiring out if you don't have a clue about web design. It takes practice to get a professional touch. I'm going to be hiring out soon to redesign my sites, even though I have been doing HTML for almost 3 years.

You want a professional look that only someone with lots of practice would be able to create.

It would be best to hire someone that knows about webdesign. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Don't look for someone who just wants to do your design and be done. Look for someone to develop a relationship with. You will need them again. Another thing, running a successful online business is hard work and will be a huge task.
