SSL Certificates for E-commerce Site

Good day,

I would like to know which SSL certificates would you recommend for an e-commerce site?

In reality, you probably do not NEED any. All payment processing will be done off your site and server, on secure servers by PayPal, etc. or your gateway / merchant account provider. Your shopping cart or even "buy now" buttons will transfer the buyer over to the very secure and validated servers of the payment processor.

Having said that, a SSL cert can inspire consumer confidence and you can get one for under $30 per year at GoDaddy, which is also a name many recognize. You will, however, need a dedicated IP from your hosting provider, which will run in the $20 per year range.

Don't fall for a shared SSL. Get your own, if you get any at all.

Other than ecommerce, if you are collecting medical or personal information, such as for insurance, you should do it securely, but all you are getting on a regular ecommerce site is "phone book" info, name address, etc. The card processor will do the heavy lifting for you.

As for me, I think that SSL Certificates are needed in order to provide security of your e-commerce web site. I have seen nice e-commerce hosting plans and also SSL Certificates offered at Webintellects. I have read nice reviews about them and think that it will be reasonable for you to check them.

Those are Shared SSL, which is of little value. You need a dedicated IP and your own SSL to have any real effect.

In addition
RapidSSL, SBS or GeoTrust are good provider.

RapidSSL is cheaper than others.

GeoTrust is the best SSL provider but it isn`t cheap. If you need a cheap one use RapidSSL. You`ll need a dedicated ip, this usually costs between 1$ and 2$/month.

does the SSL provided by bluehost shared or no? I have a shared hosting plan with them. If it is shared and of little value can i get ssl from company other than my web hosting company? Thanks!
