you do if your shop requires it. I think i saw you say you were using OScommerce, in that case, yes you do need a mysql database

general rule of them is that most shopping carts now a days run off of a database backend. But, my friend do some research.

PHP Cart
System Requirements:
PHP 4.0 or higher ( That is the only server requirement!)
No Database Required
Supports Register Globals Off

My advice to you is ask someone for help, it seems you are new to this. I'm available limitedly if you want to PM me
