Shipping Costs?

I was just wondering how do you figure or find out how much shipping will cost? Say you sell products of all different sizes and weights. Also what methods of shipping are best? I am new to all of this so I would appreciate responses in great detail. Thank you for your help.

Shipping is determined by weight, size, and distance. Typically UPS is the most economical method for shipping products.

I've found that USPS can actually be cheaper than UPS. Also, you can purchase a scale from them to calculate your shipping price for each package. Not very expensive either.
