wow, some people really need to be more understanding of others. I'm in no way a fan of quixtar, but for some people its the best hope they have. It doesn't work for everyone, just like being an entrepreneur doesn't work for everyone. There's only one way to find out.
If he's paying $150 to $200 just to become an IBO, then he's over paying. The actual license is around $35 or $50 I think. But depending on who his trainer is, they will set him up with a starter package that does cost additional, so thats what the additional startup fees are for.
Companies like Quixtar (especially Quixtar though) have gotten a lot of bad rep in the past and present just because the company puts a lot of power in the hands of their independent contractors and those are the people who screw things up, so the general public gets a bad mindset about the company itself.
Quixtar is a decent organization if that is your only hope in life, BUT it severely depends on your upline/trainer. You have to have a good one or else it will just be a waste of time. Every trainer says they are good, so you really have to do your homework. Plus, "the business" isn't easy, its just as hard as anything else you would want to do, so a major key to success is working hard. Plus, their 6 month or 12 month plans never work for anyone (ok, maybe 1 or 2 people out of thousands), but their 5 year plan is a little more realistic, but figure more like 10 years to be stable at the platinum level, even if you work really hard.
There's a lot more I could say, I don't want to make this too long though. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
