Please review my e-commerce site // Open to Ideas
Hi all I was wondering if you could review my website.I refaced the whole website for a new look. I think it looks a lot better so far. Pitch me your comments good or bad and especially your ideas for my website improvement.
I know its plain for now my boyfriend didnt wanna make it too flashy. I think its a good idea to get right to the point. We are going to put advertisments along the left border of the homepage unless someone here has better ideas. Its up and running 100%.
[b]Im not quite sure who to go with for advertiseing I heard adsense, but are there better things out there? If so who? My boyfriend knows a little but hes too tied up in his own projects.
Im new to eccomerce please give me any tips you can.

Site is fine as is.
But I am known for my in-your-face straight to the point hard advice.
So if I were to run the site. Or better yet, to have that site to be "perfect";
I wouldn't even consider putting advertising anywhere on the site, being that it is a ecommerce website. This is very unattractive aesthetically and to customers. But more importantly, it will steal visitors away to your competitors. Besides, you will make pennies a day.
Try a better color combination. Something that is relevant to your product. Maybe pinks, white, grays and soft blues.
Studies indicate that blending can be more important then style. Using a better combination of color sets as mentioned, try to have everything blend in toegther seamlessly. Such as the text, the top navigation, add a stroke to the product gallery pics and a better logo.
About the logo. It looks a marijuana theme font because of the glow and stars. Especially if it were green. It's not a very brandable logo. Perhaps it's too big, and does not blend well because of the harsh edges. It looks like it was just copy and pasted.
As for the left navigation area, like I said before, do not put any ads there. Instead put something your retail store already has on it's store front: Images of the credit cards you accepts. And a security insignia from Verisign. Other things you can add, is specials like "10% off".
Yahoo Merchant Service- the service you are currently using gives you convenience, usability and great for beginner ecommerce sites.
But that's the problem with Yahoo Merchants, the end result is usually extremely simple and all look the same.
As an avid online shopper, if I came across your site looking for those products, I would "x" it out and go on to the next site I found I buy from your competitor. Just from the shear look of your site. But that's just me, I';ve become an expert on professional websites. But not many will be as crude as me, except for avid web shoppers.
With that said, try using Volusion.com in replacement for Yahoo Web Merchant. It's superior and gives extreme usability / customization. Not to mention the best shopping cart available on the web thus far. They cost about $30 a month, but if your serious about ecommerce and do'nt know all the ins and outs of web development, they are key.
Don't forget about the logo.

For a start, your site is ok.
A little improvement with the header and colors will make it better. Why not try softer colors or lighter ones.
Best of luck!

for some reason e-commerce sites that have dark colors and dark backgrounds turn me off. not sure why. i much prefer a white background. all the big sites have white backgrounds, amazon, ebay, etc...
i think it appeals to the majority.
just my 2 cents.

Before i start to comment on anything else you really need a better logo and design as well as brandable domain which isnt long and hard to remember for users.

Dark backgrounds and the like, on the computer especially tend to have a psychological effect like this on people. This is why I always suggest neutral or cheery colors, as long as they don't over do it. This site is a great example. You cannot go wrong with white, it has a good layout and good amount of content so the white does not make it seem like it has a lack of content. It has soft but cheery colors, a decent variety. The green menu and the light blue forum header for instance.

Okay thank you for all your ideas and thoughts. I know your not ctitisizing me,but I do take it very well.I like to get others ideas now, before I go jumping in with what I think looks good,lol..
Anyway,I totally redid the site...I used some of your ideas and thoughts.Especially about the color scheme.I redid the logo to an animated one...
Before I go any further, can you please give me some ideas about the color scheme for the new design...Its very plain.I wanted to change the green to the light pastel pink color I used. But I dont want the site to be just 2 colors...Confused here about the color scheme I should use..
Its not even close to done,But I would appreciate your thoughts before I go doing something I should change after..
I dont have very good taste when it comes to making a website look good, lol.
Any more ideas and thought are very welcome.I want to get this biz going
Thank you!!

okey dokey honey bunny
look...this is the problem...you're gonna have very low conversion rates (<1%) because you're not following any recognizable marketing principles
your site is selling jewelery..whereas you should be selling instant sex appeal (i.e. you're selling features rather than benefits)
1. drop what you're doing
2. sell sex appeal
3. be like woot.com
follow these points and you're gonna do great
