I'm looking for way to sell some (digital) products off of a website. I want them to be available for download once a customer pays. I prefer to use PayPal and I've heard that with PayPal IPN, I can enable a customer to download the product once payment has been made.

If anyone could provide more information on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,
You can set up a PayPal button for the product that you are selling under the merchant services tab. Go to the advanced settings and specify the url you would like people to be redirected to once they have made there purchase.

I'm looking for a way to track affiliate sales without purchasing 3 party software. Lizapotter mentioned that Paypal's IPN can be used....could you please explain how I would do this?

You can customize Paypal IPN's options by going into advance settings. You will find an option there that will solve your option

The paypal buttons are now remotely hosted on paypal, so you cant view the success url. So set up a button with them and set the successful payment page to your download page. Enjoy.

i utilize zen cart shopping cart, and a free addon that allows for licensing, then in the program itself, require the customer to input the serial key (which is created once he/she pays)
