Paypal and credit card payment questions
When customers make a payment they have usually have 2 choices. To make payment by paypal or credit card. I was wondering how some of you accept payment by credit card?
I know that you can also accept credit card payment without the customers having a paypal account. But like Pure Five Audio,, in your checkout page, you allow customer to straight away enter credit card number. How do you do that? You are using Authorize.net. Does that mean that i have to sign up with Authorize.net before i can do that?
And also do you think by just having paypal will be fine, because signing up for 3rd processing services cost alot.

It seems that if paypal offers your currency then you dont need the person to sign up. For example im in Australia. Paypal now allows billing in $AUD and since this change we now have the option to not require customers to sign up to paypal.

Yes, I signed up for authorize.net, through a reseller, which is www.charge.com. I offer 2 payment options,
1) paypal for people with accounts, don't trust my store, or for teenswho don't have credit cards(my store is marketed to teen/college students)
2) merchant account - this is integrated into my store and is $40/month, with 2% of all money transacted

I see. So accepting paypal actually increase the confidence of customers. I have another question on paypal. Mxer210, you mentioned that you accept paypal. Are you using business account or premier account? Because for me, i cant withdraw funds with a business account unless i open a Business Bank Account which requires a lot of work. (Business Name and Bank Account Name has to tele)
I have not try checking out to your paypal page yet but if i downgrade to premier account, will my customers still see my business name when they checkout to paypal page or will they just see my name?
Do you really need a Business Bank Account with your local bank to withdraw funds with a Paypal Business Account?

I'm not exactly sure what paypal account I have. It works good for me though, but I havn't tried withdrawing money yet. I think what I signed up for was the business account.

accepting paypal does not increase the customer's confidence, anyone can have a paypal accout. on the other hand, to have a merchants account you must have a registered business, so accepting credit cards does increase confidence.

Yes, with the business i've dealt with recently paypal has made no difference. What we've actually found is that paypal can cannibalize some of your credit card purchases. People tend to have money sitting in an account someplace and it actually limits their purchases a bit. So people who would typically pay with the card, don't.

I can't say I'm sure how it would work in your country...but it really sounds like you need a simple, one-stop destination for your e-commerce needs.
I'd strongly recommend one of the Yahoo packages if they are available in your country/currency.
Plus...their Starter plan just recently added onto so that you can issue coupons (something that was only included in the more expensive packages up until recently).

Keep in mind that Yahoo® is an electronic payment gateway (like LinkPoint, Payflow, Authorize.net/Cybersource). You still need a merchant account compatible with the Nashville platform.
And Yahoo® actually charges a transaction fee (on top of what the merchant account provider charges). Most gateways only charge a monthly fee, no other fees are involved

I do not like paypal at all, paypal charge you service fee, but you bear all the risk by yourself.
